Plot Summary:

Four longtime friends compete to embarrass each other in a series of hilariously humiliating challenges and outrages dares to the amusement of the general public.

While I had never had the privilege of seeing ‘Impractical Jokers’ until now, I must say it is certainly one of the funniest shows around. I found myself requiring a break after each episode because the constant laughter on my part when viewing resulted in my entire face being sore.

ij01The series focuses on four long time friends who go out everywhere possible and try to embarrass each other in the worst possible ways. Every one of the four is required to follow the instructions of the others in order to pass each challenge or task, and the person who loses the most challenges in an episode is required to endure the ultimate punishment, usually specifically designed towards that individual.

This is one truly hilarious show and I found it almost impossible to stop laughing throughout the entirety of every episode. If you have never heard of it, I would highly recommend checking it out. In addition to the complete first season now being available to own in this 2-Disc DVD Set, you can find new episodes airing on TruTV. If you are already a fan of the show, you will likely want to pick up a copy of ‘The Complete First Season’ on DVD to not only be able to conveniently relive every moment again and again, but also for the hilarious extras included on this release.

VIDEO:

The video is presented in a 16×9 friendly 1.78:1 aspect ratio representing the aspect ratio in which it was originally broadcast. As far as DVD releases go, everything looks pretty fair for the video quality. Some moments suffer some heavy pixilation and blurring, but that can likely also be attributed to the manner in which this show is filmed to begin with. While not perfect, overall it is a satisfactory video presentation and should be sufficient for fans of the show to relive all of their favorite moments again and again.

AUDIO:

The audio on this release is a Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo soundtrack.  No issues could be found with the audio on my end, and everything is quite legible and clear aside from some moments that are quieter, though that is not an issue with the soundtrack and all of those scenes feature subtitles for the purpose of clarity. To summarize, this is a capable and pretty decent sounding lossy stereo soundtrack.

SPECIAL FEATURES:

The complete first season DVD release features some pretty fun extras as well. Included are a number of Deleted Scenes, a Behind the Scenes featurette, ‘Meet the stars of Impractical Jokers’ as well as audio commentary tracks on 5 episodes. So rest assured that there are plenty of hilarious extras included to keep you busy for a good while after finishing viewing the 17 episodes in season one.
