Sitcoms Having An Affect On Science? Science Pays Tribute to One of Television’s Favorite Physicists… Sheldon Cooper!

Who would of thought we’d see the day where a sitcom has an effect on the world of real life science?  Well, today it happened.  A press release was issued announcing that Science is paying tribute to Sheldon Cooper of ‘The Big Bang Theory’ by naming a new species of bee after the character.  You can read the full press release after the jump. CBS Picks Up 'Under The Dome'; Orders 13 Episodes Of The Stephen King/Stephen Spielberg Series 1

 

The series from King/Spielberg, based on the best selling novel by Stephen King has been picked up by CBS for an initial 13 episode season.  While I’m happy to see this series finally get moving, I have to admit that as a huge fan of the book (one of my favorite King novels in fact) that I’m quite disappointed  by the fact it will not be airing on Showtime as originally planned.  This book was quite disturbing and uncompromisingly brutal and I’m honestly not sure how well this is going to work on network TV, but I guess we shall see.  Continue on after the jump for the full press release.
