The series from King/Spielberg, based on the best selling novel by Stephen King has been picked up by CBS for an initial 13 episode season. While I’m happy to see this series finally get moving, I have to admit that as a huge fan of the book (one of my favorite King novels in fact) that I’m quite disappointed by the fact it will not be airing on Showtime as originally planned. This book was quite disturbing and uncompromisingly brutal and I’m honestly not sure how well this is going to work on network TV, but I guess we shall see. ABC has officially added a 5 episode back order to both of their Friday night sitcoms. This brings the total number of episodes currently ordered for the first season of ‘Malibu Country’ and the second season of ‘Last Man Standing’ both to 18. FX has officially announced the return dates for a number of shows today via a press release. The list includes the premiere dates for the new seasons of ‘Justified’ & ‘Archer’ as well as the return date for ‘Anger Management’ in which it will begin it’s 90 episode back order with back to back episodes every Thursday when it returns. This news also comes with the announcement of two new series from FX titled ‘Legit’ and ‘Totally Biased’ in addition to a premiere date for ‘Legit’. The new hit series ‘Comic Book Men’ which currently airs Sundays on AMC will be moving to a new night and in addition will help launch a new night of original programming altogether on AMC with the launch of their new unscripted Thursday nights which are set to begin Thursday February 14. With the fourth season of Community right around the corner, set to debut in February taking over 30 Rock’s time slot, news has apparently spread across every corner of the web that Chevy Chase won’t be returning if the show continues it’s run past the upcoming season, nor will he appear in the final episodes yet to shoot for season four. For the first time in almost a decade (nine years to be precise) NBC has won the November sweep. I believe NBC made a very wise move in attempting to hook people in early before the other networks had a chance to do their part. With the seasons biggest new show ‘Revolution’ (pictured above) and the mid-August premieres of particular shows such as the second season of ‘Grimm’ NBC took a chance, threw their cards on the table and it all ended up being worthwhile.
