‘Tulsa King Season 3’ sees Dwight “The General” Manfredi and his ragtag crew continuing to gain ground and build a reputation in the area, but as their reach and success builds so does their list of enemies. While attempting to acquire a quality local distillery Dwight and his team butt heads with the dangerous Dunmire family who strike back after having the acquisition stolen from under them, causing fresh problems locally. Meanwhile, Dwight finds himself forced into assisting an FBI agent after being taken in and unable to refuse without everyone he cares about going down as a result.

The third season of ‘Tulsa King’ sees numerous returning cast members along with a handful of new ones and this time around includes Sylvester Stallone, Martin Starr, Jay Will, McKenna Quigley Harrington, Garrett Hedlund, Dana Delany, Vincent Piazza, Annabella Sciorra, Chris Caldovino, Neal McDonough, Mike ‘Cash Flo’ Walden, Frank Grillo, Beau Knapp, and Robert Patrick, in addition to a guest appearance by Samuel L. Jackson, along with more and nearly all contribute in a positive way to the latest chapter in the series.

Season 3 of ‘Tulsa King’ is a tense, funny and notably darker run in the enjoyable series that brings a more noticeable sense of dread and concern once things become deadlier than ever for Dwight and his Tulsa family. The latest season also benefits from keeping some of last year’s new additions around such as Neal McDonough who works nicely within and Frank Grillo whose clashes and bickering with Dwight is always quite hilarious. The series regulars from day one still hold their own and continue to keep us invested in the characters and this season also benefits a great deal from the addition of Robert Patrick who quickly proves to be one of the most terrifying and dangerous baddies we’ve yet to encounter in the series.

It’s a powerful season that ups the tension and feeling of danger permeating throughout while never detracting from the humor and fun that are some of the show’s most rewarding aspects, and this great ride of a series only seems to continually get better. If you were a fan of the first two seasons but haven’t had the chance to check out season three yet, I would strongly encourage doing so whenever possible, especially with the fourth season right around the corner and set to premiere in October.

The third season of ‘Tulsa King’ comes home on Blu-ray in its entirety in the 2-disc ‘Tulsa King: Season Three’ Blu-ray release courtesy of Paramount Home Entertainment which arrives roughly a month before the fourth season is set to debut on Paramount +. The Blu-ray set offers great, full High Definition presentations for all ten episodes of season three that never disappoint, and they’re paired with immersive and fun multichannel Dolby TrueHD soundtracks that together have the latest season looking and sounding very good; with the ten episodes split between two discs this time around. The Season 3 release does not include any extras which is sure to disappoint some fans, yet for those who want to physically own every season of ‘Tulsa King’ in HD the video and audio offerings alone should make it worth picking up and the release is recommended for anyone considering a purchase.

VIDEO:

The Blu-ray release of ‘Tulsa King: Season Three’ features a full 1080p High Definition presentation with a 2.39:1 aspect ratio on every episode of the third season. The video presentations look very good and deliver consistently clean, sharp and well-detailed presentations on every episode from start to finish that never suffer from any unexpected issues arising along the way. Detail is great at every turn with characters, interior and exterior settings, along with action sequences and darkly lit moments all holding up nicely; featuring solid, good looking colors and deep, rich and problem free black levels throughout. Overall, these are very nice High Definition presentations for every episode of season three that should easily please fans.

AUDIO:

The Blu-ray release features a 5.1 channel Dolby TrueHD soundtrack on all 10 Season Three episodes. These multichannel soundtracks offer clean, crisp and capable soundtracks with some nice immersion that contributes to the fun and tension throughout. They regularly utilize all five available channels in order to send music, gunshots, action and vehicle effects, plus plenty more throughout the various speakers at every fitting opportunity, while never allowing any dialogue or other audio elements to become distorted or negatively affected in the process. Overall, these are solid 5.1 Dolby TrueHD soundtracks that never disappoint and do a great job of enhancing the viewing experience.
