‘The Office’ was developed for American television by Greg Daniels and ran for a total of 9 seasons, based on the British series of the same name by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant. It features a stellar comedic cast that includes Steve Carell, John Krasinski, Rainn Wilson, Jenna Fischer, Leslie David Baker, B.J. Novak, Oscar Nuñez, Brian Baumgartner, Angela Kinsey, Kate Flannery, Phyllis Smith, Mindy Kaling, Ed Helms, Craig Robinson, Ellie Kemper and many more, not to mention a significant number of noteworthy stars appearing in guest or recurring roles along the way.

Since when is more of a good thing ever a negative, right? ‘The Office: The Complete Series – Superfan Extended Episodes’ brings home the entire 194 episode run (with some previously split episodes being combined and rearranged as preferred by the creative team) of the iconic mockumentary sitcom on Blu-ray packed with tons of new footage that wasn’t included in the original television broadcast airings. Touting more than 25 hours of additional footage throughout the series, the standard 22 minute episodes now range anywhere from roughly 25-40 minutes apiece (with initially extended episodes running as long as just over an hour in at least one instance) and while some include far more extra footage than others, I’m pretty certain that every single episode has at least something new to offer here, and while most of it stays within the content levels of the broadcasts, there are a few notably dark gags that I’m fairly  certain were not initially included but it’s been a minute since I’ve watched the series in its original form making it hard to say for certain in many cases.

If you’re a fan of the series that prefers to watch each episode with the most footage available (and of course not having to jump to the Deleted Scenes section like many shows) then this one is going to be a real treat for you and might even change the way you look at a few of these characters on occasion. So get comfy on the couch and prepare yourself for a whole lot of ‘The Office’ with plenty of extra fun and laughs, and even some additional character development.

Now fans can own every extended moment from ‘The Office’ in one splendid box set with ‘The Office: The Complete Series – Superfan Extended Episodes’ which brings home the special extended cuts that offer more fun and laughs for each and every episode. The set features every (extended) episode in full High Definition and looking pretty spectacular not only in quality but in the seamless manner in which the cut footage was reinserted and balanced; there are no quality shifts here and everything looks and sounds identical making them feel like true alternate editions of the episodes as opposed to hastily recut versions. The solid video presentations are nicely paired with 5.1 DTS-HD MA soundtracks for every episode and fans should have very few complaints as each episode looks and sounds great. The new set features four multidisc Blu-ray cases (holding 2 seasons each other than the first which includes seasons 1-3 due to the low episode count of the debut season) and all nicely packed within a side-slip case that should stand out nicely on your shelf. If you’re a fan that would love to physically own the Superfan extended episodes in HD then this one is recommended and shouldn’t disappoint.

VIDEO:

The Blu-ray release of ‘The Office: The Complete Series – Superfan Extended Episodes’ features a full 1080p High Definition presentation with the show’s original 1.78:1 Aspect Ratio on every extended episode of all nine seasons. The video presentations look very good altogether and deliver clean, sharp and nicely detailed presentations on each episode that are absent of any unexpected issues or troubles to be found throughout. Detail is strong across the board and character specifics, backgrounds and just about everything else holds up well, while colors are good and black levels are capably deep and rich. Overall, these are solid high definition presentations that look nice throughout and should please fans that would like to own these extended versions.

AUDIO:

The Blu-ray release features a 5.1 channel DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack for all 194 extended episodes. These lossless multichannel soundtracks provide, clean, crisp and capable audio presentations that aren’t overly immersive which should come as no surprise considering, although they do occasionally take advantage of all five available channels in order to send some typical office noises along with crowd chatter such as in a restaurant setting and the like, plus some music and more throughout the various speakers and always making sure that all dialogue and any other audio elements remain clean and fully audible at every turn. Overall, these are nice 5.1 DTS-HD MA soundtracks that may not be overly active or aggressive but they nicely complement the series and deliver in every way required.

SPECIAL FEATURES:

The Blu-ray release of ‘The Office: The Complete Series – Superfan Extended Episodes’ doesn’t include any bonus material other than the reintegrated footage extending each episode.
