Synopsis:

It seems like everybody wants to be one of those meddling kids, so Scooby-Doo recruits a different pop culture icon to join the gang in every episode of Season 2 of Scooby Doo! and Guess Who? Get sleuthing with Scooby, Fred, Velma, Daphne and Shaggy because they’ll need all the help they can get if they want to solve these mind-boggling mysteries. So, who’s on board? Music icon Cher returns to the mystery-solving stage 50 years after her first team up with Scoob in The New Scooby-Doo Movies. Terry Bradshaw gets off the bench to tackle a case, Axl Rose will rock these monsters, and Jason Sudeikis will have these villains laughing out loud! Classic Scooby fans will love to see Sandy Duncan returning to team up with the Mystery Inc gang. And how about Kacey Musgraves, Tim Gunn, Jessica Biel, Macklemore and many more! See if you can solve the mystery of who will be joining the gang next!

Scooby-Doo! And Guess Who?: Season 1 (DVD Review)

Everyone’s favorite mystery solving teens are back, and with some more celebrity help in the second season of ‘Scooby-Doo! And Guess Who’. Fred, Shaggy, Daphne, Velma and Scooby are back on the road once again and ready to solve some intriguing mysteries, but they won’t be doing it alone! This season the gang is joined by another batch of notable guest stars that are all ready to jump onboard the mystery solving train and help our teens get to the bottom of a fresh batch of mysteries. So gather up the whole family and get ready for another 26 episodes of mystery solving fun and laughs with some noteworthy guest stars contributing their voices to the episodes.

Season 2 of ‘Scooby-Doo! and Guess Who?’ serves up another fun, humorous and well animated collection of episodes with some new mysteries and mask-wearing villains for our beloved mystery-solving teens to tackle. This time around the gang is joined by a fresh batch of guest stars including such notable stars as Morgan Freeman, Axl Rose, Carol Burnett, Alex Trebek, Billy Dee Williams, Lucy Liu, Jason Sudeikis, Cher, Chloe Kim, Sandy Duncan, Terry Bradshaw, Reverend Run and many more, not to mention the entire current voice cast of the Scooby gang (Frank Welker, Kate Micucci, Matthew Lillard and Grey Griffin) in one rather clever episode. Some of the guests may be more notable than others (at least to this man in his 40’s) but even the episodes with less recognizable appearances still don’t seem to have any trouble serving up fun, amusing and altogether solid episodes as a whole with some rather great looking animation to back them up that Scooby fans young and old should thoroughly enjoy. If you’re a Scooby fan who hasn’t yet had a chance to check out this animated series, I would strongly encourage trying to make a point of doing so whenever possible.

Overall, the second season of ‘Scooby-Doo! and Guess Who?’ delivers another entertaining and beautifully animated collection of episodes with a fresh roster of celebrity guest stars bringing their own unique talents and charms (plus of course voices) to the fold this time around. With plenty of laughs, intriguing new mysteries and baddies to take on along with the collection of beloved guests, it’s another solid batch of mystery-solving fun that Scooby fans won’t want to miss out on if they haven’t yet had the pleasure of this enjoyable series that balances the new Scooby style with the guest appearance formula of ‘The New Scooby-Doo Movies’ in a way that works remarkably well for young and old Scooby fans alike. Any dedicated fans who own the Season 1 DVD set and were pleased with what it had to offer should be equally satisfied with this new 4-Disc ‘Scooby-Doo! and Guess Who?: The Complete Second Season’ DVD set which collects all 26 episodes from the show’s second season.

VIDEO:

The DVD release of ‘Scooby-Doo! and Guess Who?: The Complete Second Season’ features a 16×9 friendly standard definition video presentation on all 26 episodes from the sophomore season, each with the 1.78:1 aspect ratio in which they were originally broadcast/released. The video presentations look pretty wonderful, especially within the confines of the aging DVD format. They provide clean, sharp, colorful and nicely detailed presentations from start to finish on every episode of the season without any unexpected troubles arising throughout. Overall, these are great standard definition video presentations that hold up nicely throughout and shouldn’t disappoint fans in the slightest.

AUDIO:

The DVD release includes a 384 Kbps 5.1 channel Dolby Digital soundtrack on all 26 Season Two episodes. These multichannel soundtracks do their job well without ever becoming real notable or extravagant in the surround department; delivering crisp, clean and well balanced audio presentations on each episode of the season. They occasionally utilize all five available channels in order to send music and a few other tidbits throughout the various speakers, although the majority of the active audio content remains largely front and center throughout, yet not necessarily in a negative way. Overall, these are quite nice 5.1 Dolby Digital soundtracks that make a solid complement to the onscreen fun.
