Having spent last season trying to track down the Loom of Fate, the Legends must now save history from a foe like none they’ve encountered in the past or future. The timeship Waverider’s crew have dealt with monsters, time anomalies, and most recently, villains from Hell, but this season they will face something even more challenging and bizarre … space aliens!
Please Note: Warner Bros. Home Entertainment provided me with a free copy of the Blu-ray I reviewed in this Post. The opinions I share are my own.
The sixth season of ‘DC’s Legends of Tomorrow’ finds the legendary team of heroes aboard the Waverider dealing with a foe unlike anything they’ve encountered prior… aliens from outer space! The season picks up following season five’s conclusion as Sara is abducted by aliens only to uncover a revelation she never saw coming, but one she’ll be forced to accept if she hopes to ever escape from her alien captors whose motives remain uncertain. Meanwhile, the rest of the team struggles with the absence of their captain while trying to track down any leads to her whereabouts and at the same time attempting to handle the various time threats they still have to correct.
The latest season of ‘DC’s Legends of Tomorrow’ delivers another massively enjoyable, action-packed and frequently hilarious batch of episodes through various times and even worlds as our heroes take on an uncertain threat in the form of aliens, something they never expected to encounter even with all that they’ve seen prior. The sixth season also delves deeper into some other ongoing storylines set up in previous seasons such as the mayhem caused by the Totem where the original Zari now resides, and the relationship between the new Zari (or Zari 2.0) and her previously deceased brother Behrad as well as the awkward interactions between her and Nate as a result of his relationship with the other version of her. It also dives further into Constantine’s loss of his talents and sees a glimmer of hope as he searches high and low for any possible way to reclaim them. The alien storyline does make for some clever twists, reveals and other somewhat shocking moments fans probably weren’t expecting and certainly won’t want to miss out on if you’ve fallen behind the series. ‘DC’s Legends of Tomorrow’ manages to remain one of the more entertaining, goofy and just downright fun shows in the CW’s lineup of DC Comics series and the sixth season is certainly no exception in that right, providing no shortage of wild, over the top fun and action, plus plenty of heart and humor along the way to nicely balance it all out.
Overall, the sixth season of ‘DC’s Legends of Tomorrow’ is another splendid collection of episodes that finds plenty of new ways to keep the series fresh and inviting. Serving up some clever twists, a new central enemy unlike the team has ever faced and even one new cast member, the latest season proves that this ever-amusing and enjoyable DC series definitely hasn’t lost its charm. Warner Bros. Home Entertainment’s 3-disc Blu-ray release of ‘DC’s Legends of Tomorrow: The Complete Sixth Season’ itself also delivers quite nicely, featuring all fifteen episodes from the new season sporting pretty wonderful high definition video and audio presentations on each, along with some amusing bonus content that fans are liable to have fun with. For any fans of the series that are pleased with the Blu-ray season sets in general but haven’t yet picked up season six, the Blu-ray release should not disappoint and is recommended.
The Blu-ray release of ‘DC’s Legends of Tomorrow: The Complete Sixth Season’ features a full 1080p High Definition presentation with the show’s original 1.78:1 Aspect Ratio on all of the sixth season’s episodes. The video presentations look fantastic altogether and deliver sharp, colorful and nicely detailed presentations on every episode of the season, with no unexpected issues to be uncovered throughout. They hold up wonderfully even during the various fast moving, heavily populated or darkly lit moments, never allowing anything that’s occurring onscreen to become negatively affected or problematic. Overall, these are pretty great high definition video presentations that shouldn’t elicit any complaints from fans that tend to be pleased with the season releases on Blu-ray.
The Blu-ray release features a 5.1 channel DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack on all 15 Season Six episodes. These multichannel soundtracks offer crisp, clean and quite immersive audio presentations on each episode of the season. They repeatedly take advantage of all five available channels in order to send music, action and space-related effects, plus bits of dialogue, nature content and more throughout the various speakers quite regularly, and never resulting in any dialogue or other audio elements that may be occurring simultaneously becoming distorted or rendered inaudible along the way. Overall, these are splendid 5.1 DTS-HD MA soundtracks that more than deliver across the board and definitely shouldn’t disappoint.
