We have some slightly belated news from AMC who announced over the weekend that they have officially renewed ‘The Walking Dead’ for a ninth season while additionally announcing a new showrunner for the series. AMC also announced the season four premiere date for ‘Fear The Walking Dead’ which is scheduled to debut on April 15, 2018.

‘The Walking Dead’ renewal comes with the news that new showrunner Angela Kang will take over the day to day operations beginning with the ninth season, while previous showrunner Scott Gimple will acquire the new title of “Chief Content Officer” for the entire Walking Dead television universe.

AMC has also announced the premiere date for the fourth season of the companion series ‘Fear The Walking Dead’ which will debut on April 15, 2018 at 10/9c before switching to its regular timeslot of 9/8c the following week on April 22, 2018.
