Please Note: Warner Bros. Home Entertainment provided me with a free copy of the DVD I reviewed in this Post. The opinions I share are my own.

Gather up the entire family once again for another collection of classic Peanuts comic strips brought to life in the new 2-Disc DVD collection ‘Peanuts by Schulz: School Days’. Marking the third DVD collection of the series following ‘Snoopy Tales’ (which you can read our review of here) and ‘Go Team Go!’ (you can also read our review of that release here), ‘School Days’ comes home just in time for the new school year with a collection of animated shorts that are primarily focused on school related material this time around. Offering over three and a half of hours of new animated shorts featuring all of your favorite characters including Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Woodstock and the rest as they must tackle such everyday problems as being unable to remain awake in class, the complications of bringing your dog with you to school and a whole lot more; all collected on two DVD’s and ready for you to bring home and enjoy.

Fellow fans of this fun new Peanuts series that have been collecting the previous DVD releases and have been largely pleased with them will almost surely want to purchase a copy of ‘Peanuts by Schulz: School Days’ to add to your collection alongside the other two releases. This new 2-disc set provides top notch video presentations that look magnificent with the limitations of DVD taken into account and multichannel audio presentations that compliment the video presentations splendidly. While the release contains no bonus content of any sort (as should be expected considering the trend set by the previous 2 releases) it does once again up the quantity of content which is refreshing; where the first set included 32 shorts and the second collection somewhat surprisingly featured only 19, ‘Peanuts by Schulz: School Days’ includes 29 new animated shorts, totaling just over three and a half hours of Peanuts fun for the whole family which is certainly a refreshing improvement over the previous 2-disc collection. Super fans of the Peanuts universe that still haven’t had the chance to check out this new series which brings to life classic Peanuts comic strips may want to try and find a rental option or else pick up one of the DVD sets when a great deal strikes (they tend to stay quite reasonably priced as is)in order to finally give it a whirl. It’s a fun little show that adapts the classic material and brings it to life, therefore simultaneously offering both something new and familiar that Peanuts fans who haven’t already had the pleasure definitely won’t want to miss out on.

Overall, diehard fans of Charlie Brown and his unique circle of friends and especially those who picked up the previous two DVD releases will surely want to at least consider purchasing a copy of ‘Peanuts by Schulz: School Days’ on DVD as well in order to have the ability to enjoy this new collection of classic Peanuts comic strips brought to life time and again, and whenever you might desire. This new 2-disc DVD collection delivers just over three and a half of hours of classic Peanuts fun with the entire gang, largely focusing on school related subject matter this time around and providing quite impressive video and audio presentations on all 29 included shorts that look outstanding for a DVD release and shouldn’t disappoint fans who still embrace the format in the slightest. Those who enjoy the antics of the Peanuts gang yet aren’t interested in purchasing the release (or are adamant about no longer collecting the DVD format) may want to at least look into a possible rental option for one time viewing if you’re merely interested in checking out the new collection without any intention of revisiting the release down the road.

The DVD release of ‘Peanuts By Schulz: School Days’ features a 16×9 friendly video presentation on all 29 included episodes, each utilizing the 1.78:1 aspect ratio in which they were originally broadcast. The video presentations look magnificent, especially considering the limitations of the DVD format in this day and age. It offers crisp, clean and beautifully colored presentations on each of the included animated shorts, with no notable faults to be found anywhere along the way. Overall, these are fantastic standard definition video presentations that look gorgeous and should thrill any fans who still don’t mind the format to begin with.

The DVD release includes a 384 kbps 5.1 channel Dolby Digital soundtrack on all 29 of the included animated shorts. These multichannel soundtracks follow the trend set by the previous releases and provide clean, sharp and smooth audio presentations on each and every short. While the surround activity again remains somewhat limited, it does take advantage of all five available channels in order to let the music to immerse the viewer, along with contributing a few other tidbits of activity, and always making certain that all dialogue remains clean and easily audible at all times. Overall, these 5.1 channel Dolby Digital soundtracks sound great and deliver in every way required of them.

The DVD release of ‘Peanuts By Schulz: School Days’ does not contain any bonus content whatsoever.
