After taking the tech world by storm last season at TechCrunch Disrupt, Richard and rest of the Pied Piper team – Erlich, Jared, Dinesh and Gilfoyle – look ahead to a bright and profitable future. But their success may be in jeopardy, thanks to big changes at Raviga, the company created by Peter Gregory, and Nucleus, the competing compression platform launched by Hooli CEO Gavin Belson.
The second season of ‘Silicon Valley’ picks up following the unexpected success of Richard (Middleditch) and the rest of the Pied Piper team at TechCrunch Disrupt where they set a new record shattering the top Heisman score thanks to some last minute tweaks by Richard. Now, the team finds themselves being unrightfully sued by the dastardly Gavin Belson (Ross) of Hooli who claims they stole his idea. Before long they find themselves being offered ridiculous funding offers only to subsequently lose them all after the lawsuit becomes public knowledge. Desperate to beat Hooli to the punch and get Pied Piper up and running, they are forced to take drastic steps to secure funding before they end up losing everything for good.
‘Silicon Valley’ certainly doesn’t fall into a sophomore slump and the second season delivers a barrage of moments that are sure to leave folks nearly in pain from the constant laughter, along with plenty of new obstacles for our Pied Piper team to surpass. The sophomore season of ‘Silicon Valley’ only improves this wonderful series as the show is able to truly find its footing and place now that introductions and basic idea layouts have been taken care of, and the result is nonstop hilarity and fun. With Mike Judge and the other series creators still front and center, obviously fully invested in the series’ path, get ready for a whirlwind of crazy antics, raunchy goofiness and even some relatively painful emotional moments. Nonetheless you can rest assured that the key emotion you will be feeling is most certainly enjoyment, because ‘Silicon Valley’ truly delivers and is not a show fans of quality comedy will dare to miss out on.
Fellow fans of this hilariously brilliant HBO Original Series will almost surely want to make certain to pick up a copy of ‘Silicon Valley: The Complete Second Season’ on Blu-ray to add to their collections. The release delivers exceptional high definition video and audio presentations that should easily thrill, along with a few notable extras including Audio Commentary and a number of Deleted Scene(s) for over half of the included episodes and more (more detailed information regarding the bonus content can be found in the special features section of the technical specification coverage below), likely to make this one a definite must own at least for a number of the series’ fellow fans who want to relive the hilarious fun it has to offer time and again.
Overall, fans of the fresh, unique and ridiculously funny ‘Silicon Valley’ will likely want to make sure to grab a copy of ‘The Complete Second Season’ on Blu-ray, the impressive high definition video and audio presentations along with a few solid extras should be more than enough motivation for many. Those who might not have previously had the pleasure of the second season or even the series as a whole may also want to consider giving it a shot, it’s certainly well worth the cost of a rental at the very least if you’re hesitant to blindly purchase the season collections.
The Blu-ray release of ‘Silicon Valley: The Complete Second Season’ features a full 1080p High Definition presentation utilizing the show’s original 1.78:1 Aspect Ratio on all of the second seasons episodes. The video presentations look exceptional, delivering sharp, detailed and flawless video presentations on every episode, holding up in every possible way, each complimented by a more than sufficient bitrate and with no notable faults of any kind to be found within. Overall, these are magnificent high definition video presentations that should easily thrill fellow fans of the series.
The Blu-ray release features a lossless 5.1 channel DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack on all 10 Season Two episodes. These lossless multichannel soundtracks sound great and deliver in every aspect required of them, providing consistently crisp and clean audio presentations on each of the ten episodes in the sophomore season. Utilizing all five available channels on a number of occasions in order to surround the viewer with the always spot-on musical selections, in addition to some random crowd chatter and general ambience, while never resulting in any dialogue which may be occurring simultaneously to become distorted or rendered inaudible. Overall, these are solid 5.1 channel DTS-HD MA soundtracks that each deliver in every way required of them and shouldn’t disappoint in the slightest.
The Blu-ray release of ‘Silicon Valley: The Complete Second Season’ includes a few solid extras. Included on the release are ‘Audio Commentary with members of the Cast and Crew’ on 6 of the episodes, along with a number of ‘Deleted Scene(s)’ for 6 episodes (running approximately 11 minutes altogether). We are also treated to a brief Behind the Scenes Featurette ‘Reality Bytes: The Art and Science Behind Silicon Valley’ (running approximately 3 minutes) which features some behind the scenes footage and interviews/comments with the cast and crew.
