Plot Summary:
After being snubbed by the royal family, a malevolent fairy places a curse on a princess which only a prince can break, along with the help of three good fairies.
The timeless Disney Animated Classic ‘Sleeping Beauty’ has been released from the vault and is seeing the light of day like never before on Blu-Ray and Digital HD for the first time ever, but just for a limited time of course. Long time fans and newcomers to the tale alike can now bring home this epic tale of romance, adventure and magic once again, like it’s never been seen or heard before. Children and adults alike will surely fall in love for the first time or once again with this story of a beautiful princess in hiding and her fairy godmothers (so to speak) as they try to keep the forces of the evil Maleficent at bay. A princess threatened by a curse whose only hope may be true love’s kiss.
‘Sleeping Beauty’ is presented on Blu-Ray with breathtaking High Definition picture and sound so impressive that you’ll have to see and hear it for yourself to believe it. The Diamond Edition Blu-Ray release of ‘Sleeping Beauty’ features a full 1080p High Definition presentation utilizing the 2.55:1 Studio Approved Aspect Ratio. The video presentation looks truly breathtaking here on Blu-Ray, so good in fact that it’s quite hard to believe just how long ago this was done. The colors and animation, down to each edge of the frame are absolutely perfect, bright, gorgeous and just overall spectacular in pretty much every possible way. This high definition video presentation gets top marks and is sure to thrill all of the Disney fans out there and more than please everyone in the family.
AUDIO:
The Diamond Edition Blu-Ray release of ‘Sleeping Beauty’ features a lossless 7.1 channel DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack which sounds fantastic for a film of this age. While many of the classic Disney features that include 7.1 lossless audio tracks often keep the surround channels focused mainly to the music (which still sounds great, don’t get me wrong) you can really see the care and extreme attention to detail that went into remastering the audio on this one and the music, along with effects and on-screen action all take advantage of the seven channels and as a result ‘Sleeping Beauty’ has surely never sounded this magnificent. Just as with the video presentation, this 7.1 DTS-HD MA soundtrack gets top marks and is sure to please the masses, including those fellow audiophiles out there.
SPECIAL FEATURES:
The Diamond Edition Blu-Ray release of ‘Sleeping Beauty’ is also jam-packed with all kinds of fun bonus goodies for the whole family to enjoy. The release includes three deleted/alternate scenes, one of which titled ‘The Fair’ features a seven minute sequence cut from the film which is pretty interesting; ‘Once Upon A Parade’ skit starring Sarah Hyland which the kids will surely have fun with; in addition to a few featurettes including: ‘The Art of Evil: Generations of Disney Villains’ ‘@DisneyAnimation: Artists in Motion’ ‘Eyvind Earle: A Man and His Art’ in addition to a few others, including one on remastering the audio of this classic. The Diamond Edition Blu-Ray also includes a lengthy forty minute featurette titled ‘Picture Perfect: The Making of Sleeping Beauty’ which is quite informative and fun, as well as ‘Beauty-Oke Sing Along’ and yet even more; more than a healthy helping of bonus content to keep everyone entertained well after revisiting this classic Animated Film.
