Synopsis:

In this delightful, animated feature film, Daffy Duck opens up the ghostbusting Ghouls ‘R’ Us agency. “It’s supply and demand,” the spook sleuth explains. “My clients supply the ghosts, and I demand the money.” Highlights include Daffy “Anything for a Buck” Duck pitching his wares on TV, a house call to a vampy seductress, a ghost-to-ghost hookup with Zed Toppel on Frightline and talk about a tough crowd, crooner Daffy wowing a nightclub of Transylvanian baddies. Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig, Tweety and Sylvester join this exercise in hilarity, with principal voices provided by the always masterful Mel Blanc. The gang’s all here-and so is the fun. You’ll quack up over Daffy Duck’s Quackbusters.

‘Daffy Duck’s Quackbusters’ joins Daffy as he wins a hefty fortune from a wealthy, dying man after making him laugh but is warned that there will be repercussions for not using the money for good intentions and purposes. Naturally, Daffy takes this as a sign that he should use the money to create a ghost-busting agency with the convenient bonus of granting him a way to hopefully rid him of the man’s ghost who insists on keeping tabs on Daffy’s choices. As Daffy repeatedly makes questionable choices which always result in more of his new fortune vanishing, this conniving duck will have to find a way to fix the problem or his ways.

The animated feature film ‘Daffy Duck’s Quackbusters’ was released in 1988 and marks the final installment in a collection of ‘Looney Tunes’ compilation animated features to use previously released shorts combined with some newly created animated segments intended to tie the archival shorts together into one overall story, something that works to a degree but as one might expect does indeed have its flaws as well; fortunately warts and all it still works rather well and most important of all it’s an awful lot of fun, while also being notable for featuring the last voice performances from Mel Blanc who passed approximately a year after its release.

It serves up an enjoyable helping of Looney Tunes fun that showcases some of the more popular characters including Daffy Duck, along with Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig, and Sylvester the cat who each have their own role to play in Daffy’s new ghostbusting crew, while each are naturally also featured in the previously released cartoons collected within. The film may not break any new ground or offer anything amazing, yet it works well as a somewhat connected story that utilizes the new bridge-like animated segments with a handful of largely similar ghost and supernatural-like cartoon shorts that may not click together like magic but do well enough to make it feel somewhat organic and always amusing at the absolute least. Any Looney Tunes fans (especially diehard Daffy fans) should have no trouble remaining fully entertained from start to finish.
