‘True Lies’ & ‘East New York’ Cancelled By CBS

CBS has now pulled the plug on two of their freshman series, cancelling both ‘True Lies’ and ‘East New York’ after one season.

The news follows today’s earlier surprise by CBS that they have un-cancelled ‘S.W.A.T.’ and renewed it for a seventh and final season (you can read more about that HERE) but the cancellation of ‘True Lies’ and ‘East New York’ aren’t likely to have any similar luck as both series are in their debut season.

While ‘True Lies‘ has struggled to deliver any substantial numbers for the network, the cancellation is far from surprising. The season one finale which is set to air on May 17 will now also serve as the show’s series finale.

On the other side of this news, ‘East New York‘ is reportedly more likely a victim of issues and arguments regarding budget costs and other internal matters with conflicts arising between the network and Warner Bros. Television, the lead studio of the series. It is also believed that ‘East New York’ may have lost its chance at renewal when ‘S.W.A.T.’ had its cancellation reversed. The Season 1 finale of the series which will air on May 14 will now also serve as that show’s series finale.

Were you a fan of either or both series and are you disappointed that they won’t be returning for another season on CBS? Don’t hesitate to sound off in the comments with your thoughts on the news and the shows themselves!
