[Blu-Ray Review] South Park: The Complete Twenty-Fifth Season; Available On Blu-ray & DVD April 4, 2023 From Paramount 3

‘South Park’ returns for its groundbreaking twenty-fifth season which rejoins Stan, Kyle, Cartman and Kenny; our favorite foursome of foul-mouthed youngsters who this time around get swept up in everything from a clash about Pajama Day at South Park Elementary which draws comparisons to Nazi Germany, as well uncovering a misconception about one of their classmates. The kids must also tackle trying to play airsoft which causes them to spend time with some truly confused and moody teenagers, not to mention a St. Patrick’s Day in South Park that gets Butters in a whole lot of trouble for pinching. It’s just another normal collection of adventures for the kids growing up in South Park.

Season 25 of ‘South Park’ invites fans back to your favorite quiet mountain town for another collection of wild, hilarious and splendidly offensive episodes with our favorite elementary school kids and all of their friends and family members. The latest season begins what seems to be the new trend of 6 episodes per season (something that started the same time as the new two new special episodes on Paramount+ each year which all combined results in roughly the same length as the previous ten episode seasons) but don’t think for a moment that there isn’t plenty of ridiculous fun and hilarity to be had within. This season finds the city dealing with a resurfaced fear of Russian invasion, along with tackling the annoyance of moody teenagers, the issues with St. Patrick’s Day in today’s world and even corrects a misconception about one of the local kids. It’s a thoroughly entertaining and amusing new batch of episodes that should have fans laughing and rolling their eyes in appreciation and it all just proves yet again that this long-running animated series hasn’t lost its touch.

Paramount Home Entertainment’s single-disc Blu-ray release of ‘South Park: The Complete Twenty-Fifth Season’ brings home all six episodes from the animated show’s twenty-fifth season with each featuring very nice high definition video presentations that are only complemented by uncensored, bleep-free Dolby TrueHD multichannel soundtracks that serve up every episode looking and sounding as good as ever. Unfortunately, the Season 25 Blu-ray release does continue the recent pattern of these releases not including any bonus content, so don’t be surprised to find only the season’s six episodes and a menu offered within. Although this season did at least arrive with a slipcase.

south park season 25 blu ray review

Overall, Season 25 of ‘South Park’ delivers another fun, vulgar and hilariously offensive batch of episodes that should easily have fans laughing out loud and loving nearly every moment throughout. Poking fun at everything from St. Patrick’s Day in the modern world to the headache of dealing with teenagers and even clearing up a shocking misconception about one of the young students at South Park Elementary; there may only be 6 episodes but Season 25 still has more than enough, fun, humorous and over the top ridiculousness in store to keep fans happy. The single-disc Blu-ray release may be absent of any bonus content, but diehard fans that collect each season on Blu-ray will almost surely still want to add this release to their collection whenever possible. If you’re a dedicated fan of the series that’s already considering a purchase, the Blu-ray is recommended.
