Synopsis:
It’s season six and Rick and Morty are back! Pick up where we left them, worse for wear and down on their luck. Will they manage to bounce back for more adventures? Or will they get swept up in an ocean of piss! Who knows?! Piss! Family! Intrigue! A bunch of dinosaurs! More piss! Another can’t miss season of your favorite show.
Please Note: Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment provided me with a free copy of the Blu-ray I reviewed in this Post. The opinions I share are my own.
‘Rick and Morty’ returns with its epic sixth season which rejoins Rick and Morty following the fifth season’s conclusion as the duo along with the rest of the family (and of course both Beth’s) find their way out of their current predicament only to be thrust into another collection of hilariously ridiculous and dangerous situations including a fight with the night versions of themselves, a struggle to become a notable hero, along with the return of dinosaurs and Morty becoming ruler of the sun for a minute, not to mention delving into Rick’s real goal of revenge and all that goes along with it. So, get situated on that couch or comfy chair and prepare yourself for another hilarious collection of episodes featuring your favorite grandfather and grandson.
Season 6 of ‘Rick and Morty’ does a tremendous job of continuing to expand the world of the unlikely friendship between the two title characters that finds a fitting balance of offering some fresh insight into a few long-running storylines and subjects such as Rick’s true mission which really begins to unfold this season, while still finding plenty of opportunities to deliver some new, largely standalone episodes throughout that feature a countless collection of ridiculous and hilariously offensive new worlds, versions of the characters and certainly no shortage whatsoever of twists and cleverly absurd situations for our heroes (or something like that) to tackle and miraculously find their way out of; usually in a manner that’s as equally over the top and hilarious as how they landed in the situation to begin with.
Fans of ‘Rick and Morty’ definitely shouldn’t find much to dislike about the latest run and it’s really quite admirable just how fresh they’ve managed to keep this show over the course of six seasons. Instead of starting to fizzle out and become repetitive it somehow only manages to become more intricate and emotional at times while also increasing the level of vulgar ridiculousness that it manages to do so incredibly well. If you enjoy the series but haven’t yet had the chance to check out season six, then you’ll definitely want to make a point of doing so whenever possible.
Overall, Season 6 of ‘Rick and Morty’ delivers another goofy, out of this world and darkly hilarious batch of episodes with your favorite pair of dimension-hopping relatives that shouldn’t have any trouble keeping you glued to the screen and laughing almost every step of the way. Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment’s single-disc Blu-ray release of ‘Rick and Morty: Season 6’ brings home all ten episodes from the animated show’s sixth season featuring great high definition video presentations on all ten episodes which are each only further complemented by uncensored DTS-HD MA multichannel soundtracks. The release also features a handful of enjoyable extras that take you behind the new season and while this season release may not be as jam-packed with supplements as many prior season releases, it certainly still delivers a rewarding release that fans who collect each season on disc will almost surely still want to add to their collection. For fans of the series that are considering a purchase, the Blu-ray release is recommended.
VIDEO:
The Blu-ray release of ‘Rick and Morty: Season 6’ features a full 1080p High Definition presentation with the show’s original 1.78:1 Aspect Ratio on all of the sixth season’s episodes. The video presentations look wonderful as a whole and provide clean, sharp and richly detailed presentations from start to finish on every episode with no unexpected troubles or faults to be uncovered along the way. Nearly everything within from the backgrounds and various dimensions/worlds and the creatures and characters that populate them as well as lead character details and textures look rich and sharp across the board, with bright, vibrant colors consistently on display that often look quite gorgeous. Overall, these are great high definition video presentations that hold up well throughout and should leave fans quite pleased.
AUDIO:
The Blu-ray release features an uncensored 5.1 channel DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack on all 10 Season Six episodes. These multichannel soundtracks make splendid complements to the onscreen fun and offer crisp, clean and at times fairly immersive audio presentations for each episode. They take advantage of all five available channels in order to send music, along with some minor action and space-related effects throughout the various speakers, but not in as extreme of a manner as some similar action-packed series; always keeping things somewhat in check and ensuring that all of the dialogue and other audio elements that might be occurring simultaneously remain clean, clear and fully audible. Overall, these are solid 5.1 DTS-HD MA soundtracks that do their job well for the most part and should easily satisfy fans.
