The latest ‘DEG Watched at Home Top 20 List’ for February 4, 2021 (compiled of data for the week ended 01.30.21) sees the top 3 spots remaining the same, with ‘American Skin’ holding onto first for another week, followed by ‘Tenet‘ in second and ‘Honest Thief‘ in third. Last week’s fourth place title ‘The War With Grandpa’ was bumped down one spot to fifth this week as ‘Greenland’ claimed fourth. This week’s list also sees some Wall Street titles making an appearance, including ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ in ninth and ‘The Big Short’ in thirteenth. The trailer release for ‘Godzilla vs. Kong’ also made some noise and landed the previous installment in the MonsterVerse ‘Godzilla: King of the Monsters‘ on the list in eleventh! WALL STREET ACTION MAKES A MARK IN DEG’S “WATCHED AT HOME TOP 20”
As r/wallstreetbets mania took Wall Street – and the news – by storm, consumers also sought stock market dramas for entertainment, moving The Wolf of Wall Street 10 spots to No. 9 in this week’s “Watched at Home Top 20”, and The Big Short joined at No. 13. It was a good week for new titles, with Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Batman: Soul of the Dragon and horror tales Synchronic and Freaky debuting on the chart’s bottom half. The highest debut was Gerard Butler’s thriller Greenland, which bowed at No. 4, as the only new title in the Top 5.
DEG compiles the ‘Watched at Home Top 20’ list with the most widely consumed titles on disc and digital during the previous week (except for outside subscription-based streaming platforms). Assembled with the newest studio and retailer data every seven days, it showcases current consumer enthusiasm for home viewing of the newest film and television releases.
