Just ahead of the sophomore season’s finale, HBO and BBC have now officially renewed ‘His Dark Materials’ for a third season which will also be the show’s last.

The renewal for a third and final season of ‘His Dark Materials’ arrives just ahead of the season 2 finale which will air on HBO December 28 (and aired in the UK on BBC on December 20). The second season order ended up at seven episodes due to the pandemic, but the third and final season is reported to once again include 8 episodes.

The decision for the third season also serving as the last is by no means a cancellation, from my understanding the reasoning lies withing the fact that each season has covered one novel in the trilogy and therefore season three will conclude the story.
