Synopsis:

After defeating the Legion of Doom, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow face a new threat created by their actions. By revisiting a moment in time that they had already participated in, they’ve essentially fractured the timeline and created anachronisms all across time! In Season Three, the Legends must find a way to return all the anachronisms to their original timelines before the time stream falls apart.

The third season of ‘DC’s Legends of Tomorrow’ rejoins the legends following their defeat of the Legion of Doom. Believing to have stopped their plans for good, they soon discover that their success resulted in some unexpected consequences including the immediate threat of dinosaurs suddenly rampaging in modern day. But even once the team is able to stabilize the more immediate threats, they are confronted by the powerful duo of Legion of Doom member Damien Darhk and his deadly daughter Nora who promptly unleash a whole new mess of problems among the universe. But then again, when has being a Legend ever been easy.

Season three of ‘DC’s Legends of Tomorrow’ delivers full throttle with another batch of time jumping adventures, exciting action and plenty of new and returning faces from across the DC Television Universe (or Arrowverse as many have dubbed the interconnected world these shows share). Adding some new faces to the team while also bidding farewell to others, and again pitting our legends against the powerful Damien Darhk, as well as his daughter Nora this time around who has a few tricks up her own sleeve. It’s another wildly fun, action packed and overall solid season of ‘DC’s Legends of Tomorrow’ that once again proves why this series quickly became (and remained) one of my favorites in the ever-expanding DC Television world.  The fellow hardcore fans that make a point of collecting each season release on Blu-ray and are repeatedly pleased each consecutive year should find no exception with the technical merits of ‘DC’s Legends of Tomorrow: The Complete Third Season’. The Blu-ray release once more provides great high definition video and audio presentations on each and every episode, along with some enjoyable extras including ‘Deleted Scene(s)’ for many episodes, all four parts of the epic DC Crossover event ‘Crisis on Earth-X’ and more (as always please see the technical specification coverage of the review below for more detailed information). Altogether it makes for another solid 3-disc Blu-ray collection that shouldn’t disappoint.

Overall, the third season of ‘DC’s Legends of Tomorrow’ is another incredibly entertaining and action filled season loaded with time travelling adventures and no shortage of heart and humor. Following the show’s common pattern and once again switching up elements of the team yet always leaving many fan favorites so as to never overly disappoint, any fan of the series who hasn’t yet had the pleasure of the latest season will definitely want to try and make a point of catching up before the new season debuts on The CW later this month. Fellow diehard fans of this show in particular and/or of the overall DC-TV Universe (or Arrowverse) that collect the yearly season sets and are consistently satisfied with the previous Blu-ray releases shouldn’t have any complaints about this latest 3-disc Blu-ray box set for ‘DC’s Legends of Tomorrow: The Complete Third Season’ and will likely want to try and make certain to pick up a copy at some point if you haven’t already done so.

The Blu-ray release of ‘DC’s Legends of Tomorrow: The Complete Third Season’ features a full 1080p High Definition presentation utilizing the show’s original 1.78:1 Aspect Ratio on all of the third season’s episodes (and the bonus crossover event episodes). The video presentations look great altogether and provide clean, detailed and colorful presentations on every episode, with no noteworthy faults or issues to be uncovered along the way. They hold up impressively even during the many darkly lit, heavily populated and fast moving action sequences, never allowing anything occurring on screen to become negatively affected or rendered indiscernible. Overall, these are pretty fantastic high definition video presentations that should have little trouble satisfying the fans generally pleased with the previous season sets.

AUDIO:

The Blu-ray release features a lossless 5.1 channel DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack on all 18 Season Three episodes (as well as the additional 3 bonus episodes included for the crossover event). These multichannel soundtracks deliver crisp, smooth and notably active audio presentations on each episode. They repeatedly take advantage of all five available channels sending characters, spacecrafts, plus bullets, debris and plenty more consistently whipping throughout the various speakers, and never causing any dialogue or other audio elements that may be occurring simultaneously to become distorted or rendered inaudible in the process. Overall, these are wonderful 5.1 channel DTS-HD MA soundtracks that sound great at every turn and contribute their share of additional fun to the overall viewing experience.

SPECIAL FEATURES:

The Blu-ray release of ‘DC’s Legends of Tomorrow: The Complete Third Season’ includes a few fun extras for the fans. Included on the release are ‘Deleted Scene(s)’ for 10 of the season’s episodes and a ‘Gag Reel’ (running approximately 7 minutes in length) for the season, along with some Behind the Scenes Featurettes that take you behind specific aspects of bringing the show to life. The included Featurettes are ‘The Time Calibrators: Legends Assemble!’ (running approximately 18 minutes), ‘Post Production Theater’ (approximately 6 minutes) and ‘The Best of DC TV’s Comic Con Panels San Diego 2017’ (58 minutes). Also included are ‘All 4 parts of the DC Crossover Event Crisis on Earth-X’ and the related Behind the Scenes Featurette ‘Inside the Crossover: Crisis on Earth-X‘ (42 minutes). As a note to those who collect multiple (or all) of the DC-TV season releases, at least a few of the extras listed here are identical to those also included on some of the other latest season releases from the DC-TV Universe (specifically those also included as part of the crossover event).
