Get ready to accompany the crew of the Ghost one last time for their biggest adventure yet in the fourth and final season of ‘Star Wars Rebels’. The final season rejoins our ragtag group of heroes who now serve as full-fledged members of the rebellion and takes the team back to Ezra’s home world of Lothal where things have become drastically worse; the Empire now controlling the planet with an iron fist. While on the opposite side of the fight, the cunning Grand Admiral Thrawn plots his own final play to combat their own.

The fourth and also final season of ‘Star Wars Rebels’ may offer a few less episodes than some previous seasons, but it’s also an understandable move as in the larger scope of things it allows for a far more concentrated and centered story with our heroes spending the majority of these episodes on Ezra’s home planet. It serves up all of the tense and exciting action us fans of the show have come to love, along with some real heart and even a bit of heartbreak. All building up to a truly perfect, fitting and emotional conclusion that should hopefully please most fans as thoroughly as it did me. From the beginning ‘Star Wars Rebels’ has continually proven itself to be something special, and its conclusion cements it as a noteworthy entry in the ever expansive Star Wars universe that fellow Star Wars fanatics will definitely want to make a point of checking out at some point if they still haven’t had the pleasure; it would be well worth your time to do so.

Anyone that’s been collecting the Blu-ray season releases of the show over the last few years will surely want to make a point of purchasing ‘Star Wars Rebels: Complete Season Four’ on Blu-ray at some point as well if they haven’t already done so in order to complete your collection of the series. The final season set holds up with the quality of the previous three and offers clean and gorgeous high definition video presentations and immersive audio presentations (although still lossy soundtracks naturally) on each and every episode of this spectacular animated show’s final run. Along with hours of noteworthy bonus content including Audio Commentary tracks on multiple episodes, new behind the scenes Featurettes and more (more detailed information regarding the bonus content can be found in the special features section of the technical specification coverage below) that altogether should easily make this one another must own for the fellow fans excited about completing their ‘Star Wars Rebels’ collection on Bu-ray.

Overall, the fourth season of ‘Star Wars Rebels’ provides fans with a rather satisfying conclusion to the series as well as some of the biggest moments the show has yet to offer along its course. It’s a fitting and moving end to this truly outstanding animated series that’s definitely more than worthy of being part of the expanding ‘Star Wars’ universe. Any and all fellow longtime Star Wars lovers out there will not want to miss out on this amazing show. As far as the technical merits go, those fans who have already collected the previous three season releases on Blu-ray and are generally pleased with what they have to offer needn’t worry about the final set’s content and quality and will surely have no qualms about coughing up the funds to purchase ‘Star Wars Rebels: Complete Season Four’ on Blu-ray. The fourth and final collection for the show delivers the video and audio quality we’ve all come to expect, artwork matching with the previous sets, in addition to hours of bonus content that takes you deeper in concluding this epic animated series.

The Blu-ray release of ‘Star Wars Rebels: Complete Season Four’ features a full 1080p High Definition presentation utilizing the show’s original 1.78:1 Aspect Ratio on all of the fourth and final season’s episodes. The video presentations look fantastic as a whole and deliver bright, clean and richly colored presentations on every episode of the season with no notable faults to be uncovered along the way. They hold up beautifully even during the numerous fast moving, darkly lit and heavily populated sequences, never causing anything occurring on screen to become negatively affected, let alone rendered indiscernible. Overall, these are pretty wonderful high definition video presentations that shouldn’t have any problem satisfying the show’s fellow fans.

As should surely come as no surprise by this point following the previous three season releases, the Blu-ray release for the show’s final season once again features a lossy 5.1 channel 640 Kbps Dolby Digital soundtrack on all 15 Season Four episodes. While I’m sure many fellow fans are always mildly disappointed to see a Blu-ray release not provided lossless audio presentations, these lossy multichannel soundtracks still hold up remarkably well and provide rather clean, crisp and aggressive audio presentations on every episode. They consistently take advantage of all five available channels in order to send ships zooming, lightsabers whirring, blaster bolts ricocheting and a great deal more activity regularly whipping throughout the various speakers, and never resulting in any dialogue or other audio elements that might be occurring simultaneously to become distorted or rendered inaudible in the process. Overall, as far as lossly audio presentations go, these are top notch 5.1 channel Dolby Digital soundtracks that complement the series perfectly and should largely please the fellow fans.

The Blu-ray release of ‘Star Wars Rebels: Complete Season Four’ includes hours of enjoyable extras that fellow fans should have some fun with. Included on the release are ‘Audio Commentary’ tracks on six key episodes, in addition to behind the scenes look at every episode with ‘Rebels Recon’ (running approximately 1 hour, 20 minutes altogether) although many of the ‘Rebels Recon’ entries this time cover multiple episodes in one (likely as a result of numerous back to back episodes during the season’s initial airing). We’re also treated to a few Behind the Scenes Featurettes that cover different aspects of creating the final season and featuring interviews/comments with members of the cast and crew discussing the show’s intended conclusion, plus much more. The included Featurettes are: ‘Ghosts of Legend’ (running approximately 28 minutes), ‘Force of Rebellion’ (approximately 15 minutes) and ‘Kevin Kiner: The Rebel Symphony’ (10 minutes).
