In season five, the cold war is over. The world might appear to look the same, but something has drastically changed. Samaritan’s lethal “correction” has initiated its control. Finch’s Machine is essentially dead. Shaw is still missing. And the team is once again hiding in plain sight. But with Samaritan’s invisible grip tightening everywhere, will Finch be able to rebuild and resurrect The Machine? And if he does, will it be the same Machine when it comes back online?
Important Notice: Warner Bros. Home Entertainment provided me with a free copy of the Blu-ray I reviewed in this Post. The opinions I share are my own.
The fifth and final season of ‘Person Of Interest’ picks up with our group of heroes separated and fighting for their lives as well as what is left of the machine as they are targeted by hordes of Samaritan operatives intent on retrieving the remainder of the machine for their own means. After narrowly escaping back to their underground lair, they soon realize that their only remaining option is to rebuild the machine to the best of their ability. Unfortunately, as the rebuilding process moves forward, strange side effects seem to plague the machine causing unexpected glitches. Now the group will have to attempt to confront Samaritan and its human associates upfront and with the odds against them if they stand any hope of rescuing their captive friend and protecting the world at large from the evil and all seeing entity Samaritan has already begun evolving into.
The final season of ‘Person Of Interest’ delivers a fan pleasing experience and a perfect conclusion to the series overall, wrapping up loose ends and tying the storylines together beautifully. Concluding the story and excelling things to a nail biter level of tension, the fifth season may have a smaller episode count, but it certainly doesn’t lack in the important areas, providing enough excitement, intrigue and action-packed insanity, along with a healthy supply of emotionally aggressive moments to keep fans easily enthralled from beginning to end. Any fan of this series who hasn’t had the opportunity to check out the final season will definitely want to make a point of doing so, and anyone who hasn’t had the pleasure of this series at all should consider giving it a shot, it’s an intelligent, powerful and action packed series that was easily one of the best shows in recent years, as well as a personal favorite; I can’t possibly recommend this outstanding series strongly enough.
Fellow fans of this outstanding series from creator Jonathan Nolan (The Dark Knight) will almost certainly want to make sure they pick up a copy of ‘Person of Interest: The Fifth and Final Season’ on Blu-ray in order to complete their collection. The Blu-ray release for the final season in the series once again delivers the impressive high definition video and audio presentations we’ve come to expect, spreading the 13 episodes between three discs. The release is a tad light in the way of supplemental material, although it does include a few nice extras including the ‘Person Of Interest: 2016 Comic-Con Panel’ and more (more detailed information regarding the bonus content can be found in the special features section of the technical specification coverage below). Although even without a mass of bonus content this one should still be a definite must own for many, especially the hardcore series fans such as myself.
