Synopsis:

Experience the epic 13-episode event series, Heroes Reborn, from Tim Kring, the creator of the global phenomenon, Heroes. Kring creates a wildly imaginative and thrilling new volume in the Heroes universe featuring a host of new characters with startling powers. After a massive terrorist attack in Odessa, Texas, evolved humans are blamed for the tragic event, forcing them into hiding or on the run from those seeking retribution. The conflict between humans and evolved humans – dubbed “Evos” – escalates into all out civil warfare. Timely, thought-provoking, and startling inventive, Heroes Reborn recaptures the magic of the original series and lays the foundation for the next volume in the Heroes mythology.

Returning viewers to the world initially introduced by Tim Kring in the original ‘Heroes’ series which debuted on NBC in 2006, the new Event Series ‘Heroes Reborn’ brings us to a new and more terrifying time for Evos (or those with extraordinary abilities) and introduces us to a number of new individuals with extraordinary gifts, while also including a number of familiar faces from the original series. ‘Heroes Reborn’ kicks off with a literal bang, beginning with a catastrophic event which occurred in June of 2014 and then quickly jumping ahead one year where we meet up with Noah Bennet of the previous series (also widely referred to as HRG) as he desperately searches for answers related to the mysterious death of his daughter Claire which occurred on that dreadful day, Noah apparently having had his memory wiped of that day’s events. As he begins to put the pieces together, the connections between heroes new and old across the globe and the stakes at hand turn out to be more than he could have ever anticipated. Now, the fate of perhaps the entire world rests in the hands of a collection of individuals who have once again been seemingly connected by destiny.

‘Heroes Reborn’ does an excellent job of capturing the overall tone and aura of the original series, tossing viewers into a new storyline with many new characters, yet never missing a beat and in nearly no time at all it’s hard to believe that it’s in fact been half of a decade since we last found ourselves in this extraordinary world filled with rich and complex characters. While Noah is the only individual from the original series who returns in a leading role, many other classic characters do return in recurring appearances and Kring and his team have done an impressive job of weaving together the storylines of these two generations of heroes, and the twists, turns and connections uncovered along the way should easily have fellow fans as enthralled from start to finish as it did myself. These 13 episodes do act well as a single ‘Event Series’ for the most part and do indeed largely wrap events as well as provide a fairly satisfying conclusion to the storyline in which we are introduced, although there are certainly some little teases at the end, as well as Tim Kring and the creative teams obvious choice to once again label it as ‘Volume One’ that make it quite clear that they were also fully prepared to move forward with another season had NBC not decided to cancel it.
