The brilliant, hyper-obsessive-compulsive, super-computer Brainiac is combing the universe for new additions to his collection of worlds when he stumbles upon a ripe planet for his taking – Earth. But Brainiac quickly discovers Earth has a “firewall” – the Justice League. When Brainiac cleverly displaces several members of the Justice League to other time periods in Earth’s history, Batman, Flash and Cyborg must build and use the Cosmic Treadmill to race across time to retrieve their comrades – while members of the Legion of Super Heroes attempt to hold off Brainiac’s assault. Only time will tell in this battle for the fate of the Earth and the Justice League!
Everyone’s favorite DC heroes are back in Lego form for another hilarious and exciting adventure as the Justice League discovers that the super computer entity known as Brainiac intends to shrink down Earth and bottle it in order to add it to his already notable collection of planets. Refusing to let their world go down without a fight, Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, Green Lantern, The Flash and a couple other heroes send Brainiac packing before he can add Earth to his collection. Unfortunately he returns with a vengeance and prior to his second attempt on the world zaps various members of the team into random places in time in order to remove their interference. Now the remaining League members must hold off Brainiac’s forces while Batman and Flash journey through time in a desperate attempt to save their friends and subsequently their planet.
The latest animated feature in the ongoing Lego DC Super Heroes: Justice League series, ‘Lego DC Super Heroes: Justice League – Cosmic Clash’ once again delivers an incredibly lively and family friendly adventure with everyone’s favorite team of heroes, again sporting a more goofy and light hearted demeanor which continues to work surprisingly well for this series, even for the adult audience. Sporting plenty of amusing and exciting action-packed moments paired with nonstop gags sure to garner a few giggles even from the older kids (this means you fellow “adults”) while simultaneously keeping the youngsters thoroughly enthralled from start to finish, it never fails to deliver and provides consistent fun throughout. Another wonderfully fun Lego DC Comics adventure, DC fans young and old who can appreciate a simple and lighthearted good time with their favorite heroes definitely won’t want to miss out on this one.
Overall, ‘Lego DC Super Heroes: Justice League – Cosmic Clash’ is an entertaining, family friendly adventure featuring everyone’s favorite team of super heroes rehashed into Lego form and sporting a more light-hearted and easygoing demeanor that provides a perfect tone for the kids while simultaneously delivering a humorous and no less enjoyable experience for the adult audience. Households with young super hero fans in addition to DC fans of all ages who can appreciate a tamer and simply enjoyable take on the characters will definitely want to give this one a whirl. If you’re hesitant to make a blind purchase, I would suggest at least considering coughing up the cash for a rental, especially for those who enjoyed previous installments in the series.
The Blu-Ray release of ‘Lego DC Super Heroes: Justice League – Cosmic Clash’ features a full 1080p High Definition presentation utilizing the film’s original 1.78:1 Aspect Ratio. The video presentation looks pretty great as a whole and aside from a minor instance or two of mild banding, delivers a consistently colorful, sharp and detailed presentation throughout that holds up even during the numerous fast moving sequences, never resulting in anything occurring on screen to become negatively affected, let alone rendered indiscernible. Overall, this is a fairly gorgeous high definition video presentation that should easily satisfy.
The Blu-Ray release features a lossless 5.1 channel DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack. This lossless multichannel soundtrack sounds pretty good and provides a rich, crisp and fairly aggressive audio presentation throughout, utilizing all five available channels regularly with the music and a few other auditory elements, although a large portion of the action effects seems to remain confined primarily to the front channels; with everything sounding generally fantastic otherwise. Overall, this is a decent 5.1 channel DTS-HD MA soundtrack that while not exceptional, is generally impressive in most aspects.
The Blu-Ray release of ‘Lego DC Super Heroes: Justice League – Cosmic Clash’ only includes a single extra, a goofy gag reel featuring our animated Lego heroes: ‘The Justice League: Caught on Camera’ (running approximately 3 minutes in length).
