Disney’s animated masterpiece ‘Aladdin’ finally arrives home like you’ve never seen it before in all of its Hi-Def glory. This hilarious animated classic is also one of my absolute favorite Disney animated films, if not my all time favorite, making this release quite the exciting event. Now the whole family can enjoy this wonderful animated film time and again in the best possible quality available; the film looks and sounds absolutely tremendous.
For the two folks out there who weren’t already well aware of the premise, this magical tale follows a young street rat named Aladdin whose life begins to look up after falling for the princess, being arrested and riding a magic carpet through a seemingly supernatural cave; because the end result is beyond his wildest imagination, something he can now grasp thanks to his own personal Genie and three wishes for the asking. Now he’ll just have to win over the princess’ heart while trying to defeat the evil Jafar who is intent on taking the palace and everything that comes along with it through sinister means.
Featuring the late Robin Williams in one of his most memorable performances, families and fans of both the film and simply Disney in general will definitely want to make certain to pick up a copy of Disney’s timeless animated masterpiece ‘Aladdin’; finally available to own on Blu-ray for the first time ever in this Diamond Edition Blu-ray Combo Pack. The Diamond Edition Blu-ray release delivers outstanding high definition video and audio presentations in addition to quite the impressive collection of extras including ‘Genie 101’ and ‘The Genie Outtakes’ along with a great deal more (more detailed information regarding the bonus content can be found in the special features section of the technical specification coverage below) easily making this impressive Blu-ray release another definite must own from Disney.
VIDEO:
The Diamond Edition Blu-ray release of ‘Aladdin’ features a full 1080p High Definition presentation utilizing a 1.85:1 Aspect Ratio. The video presentation looks phenomenal, delivering a sharp, smooth and absolutely beautiful presentation from start to finish, holding up impressively even during the fast moving sequences and never causing anything occurring on screen to become negatively affected or rendered indiscernible. Overall, this is a truly impressive high definition video presentation that should easily please fellow fans of this wonderful Disney classic.
AUDIO:
The Diamond Edition Blu-ray release of ‘Aladdin’ features a lossless 7.1 channel DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack. This lossless multichannel soundtrack is crisp, clean and surprisingly active on all fronts, frequently utilizing all seven available channels to surround the viewer with the classic songs that fill the entirety of channels beautifully, in addition to plenty of fitting instances where the surround channels come heavily into play, with everything from lava dropping from every conceivable area within the cave, plenty of Genie mayhem and possibly most active of all during POV sequences for individuals currently riding Carpet; all the while never causing any dialogue which may be occurring simultaneously to become distorted or rendered inaudible. Overall, this is an absolutely fantastic and incredibly fun 7.1 channel DTS-HD MA soundtrack that can’t possibly disappoint in the slightest.
SPECIAL FEATURES:
The Diamond Edition Blu-ray release of ‘Aladdin’ includes plenty of great extras the whole family is certain to enjoy. Included on the release are some wonderful new bonus goodies including ‘The Genie Outtakes’ (running approximately 9 minutes in length), along with some great Featurettes and other fun videos including ‘Aladdin: Casting Broadway Magic’ (approximately 19 minutes), ‘Unboxing Aladdin’ (5 minutes), ‘Genie 101’ which is hosted by Scott Weinger, the voice of Aladdin (4 minutes) and ‘Ron & John: You Ain’t Never Had A Friend Like Me’ (6 minutes). The release also includes all of the Classic Bonus content as per usual. The classic bonus content includes a number of fun gems including ‘4 Deleted Songs’ (running approximately 14 minutes altogether), a number of ‘Deleted Scenes’ (approximately 6 minutes in all), ‘3 Music Videos’ (10 minutes combined), and the ‘Disney Song Selection’ so you can instantly jump to your favorite song in the film. We are also treated to a few more extras such as the Feature ‘A Diamond in the Rough: The Making of Aladdin’ (71 minutes), ‘Alan Menken: Musical Renaissance Man’ (20 minutes), ‘The Art of Aladdin: Art Review with Filmmaker’s Commentary’ (9 minutes)‘Inside the Genie’s Lamp: Guided Tour’ (6 minutes), ‘The Genie World Tour’ (3 minutes) and last but not least, ‘2 Audio Commentary’ tracks, the first with Producers/Directors John Musker and Ron Clements & Co-producer Amy Pell, the second with Supervising Animators Andreas Deja , Will Finn, Eric Goldberg and Glen Keane.
