Synopsis:

The Vampire Diaries continues its sixth season with more delicious drama to sink your teeth into. In season five, after a passionate summer with Damon, Elena headed to Whitmore College with Caroline, not knowing Bonnie sacrificed her life for Jeremy’s. Meanwhile, Stefan and Caroline’s friendship deepened as they stood up to the Travelers, a nomadic witch tribe driven to strip Mystic Falls of magic and cast out its supernatural residents. In the shocking season finale, Damon, fearing he would lose his loved ones on the crumbling Other Side, made a huge sacrifice to bring them all back — with catastrophic and heartbreaking results. Season six follows the characters’ journey back to each other as they explore the duality of good versus evil inside themselves. Matt Davis reprises his role as Alaric Saltzman, recently returned from The Other Side. Plus, the season will make you misty-eyed as the departure of a major character will turn lives upside down and leave us asking what happened to Mystic Falls.

The sixth season of ‘The Vampire Diaries’ picks up approximately three months after the events that occurred in the season five finale, with Mystic Falls still magic free and therefore no vampires or other supernatural creatures able to enter, including Elena, Caroline and a number of its other lifelong residents, while regular humans such as Matt and Jeremy remain and in many ways find themselves less focused on the supernatural world around them. Still unable to let go of Damon, when Elena discovers that all hope of bringing Damon and Bonnie back appears lost she presses the newly arisen Alaric who now possesses the power to compel vampires in order to help her remove all traces of their love from her memory. Meanwhile Damon and Bonnie remain trapped in a repeating day from 1994 and must somehow find a way out, yet in order to do so they must first determine why they are there and where exactly there is.

After six years on the air, ‘The Vampire Diaries’ still manages to retain all of the intensity, action and emotion it possessed from the beginning, still managing to catch me off guard and impress on numerous occasions, proving time and again that while it may be well over 100 episodes in, it hasn’t lost its power or charm in the slightest. The sixth season only accentuates so many factors of what makes this show so simultaneously enjoyable, rewarding, painful and emotionally riveting. The sixth seasons powerful themes of loss and love in addition to some heartfelt farewells make this one season that fans that will not soon forget.
