Synopsis:

The original 3D computer-animated story follows Emmet, an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average LEGO minifigure who is mistakenly identified as The Special, the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world. He is drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey for which Emmet is hopelessly and hilariously underprepared.

‘The Lego Movie’ tells the story of Emmet, an average construction worker who follows all of the instructions and always does his best to be part of the team. While his life may be a bit lonely, he does his best and always keeps a smile on his face. Now, in the blink of an eye, the course of his life will alter drastically as he discovers his true potential and helps a number of powerful allies in their fight to take down the evil President Business before he ruins the world as they know it with his super weapon.

Kids and adults alike will not want to miss out on ‘The Lego Movie’ and those already hesitant on the film might want to reconsider, because I have a feeling that most folks young and grown alike will have quite a blast with this one. It brings to life the world of Lego’s like you have never seen before, in addition to being a surprisingly clever film that delivers on a number of levels. It’s hilarious, gorgeous (even more so in 3D), clever, heartwarming and action packed. This is definitely a winner for the whole family and I would give it my highest recommendation next time you are trying to decide on a fun movie the whole family is certain to enjoy.

In addition to all of the other elements that make ‘The Lego Movie’ such an enjoyable and memorable experience, it also delivers a group of characters that couldn’t be more fantastic, hilarious and filled with life; characters that are complimented by a number of talented individuals contributing the voices of these little lovable plastic folk. Christ Pratt provides the voice of our hero Emmet and is absolutely perfect. He is joined by Will Ferrell, Elizabeth Banks, Nick Offerman, Liam Neeson, as well as far too many others to list here and of course Will Arnett who is absolutely perfect as the films more goofy incarnation of Batman.

VIDEO:

The 3D Blu-Ray release of ‘The Lego Movie’ features a full 1080p High Definition 3D presentation utilizing the film’s original 2.4:1 Cinemascope Aspect Ratio. The 2D Blu-Ray of the film (sold separately, as well as also included in the ‘Everything Is Awesome Edition’) also features a full 1080p High Definition presentation utilizing the film’s original 2.4:1 Cinemascope Aspect Ratio. The 3D video presentation definitely looks pretty outstanding on this one. Everything is perfectly coordinated for the most part and there is some truly impressive 3D depth, effects and pop-outs present here that makes this incredibly fun film just that much more enjoyable when viewing in 3D. This is without question a movie that I would suggest picking up the ‘Everything Is Awesome’ edition if you have the ability to utilize the 3D Blu-Ray disc included only on that release, because it’s definitely the way to go when watching this one, should you have the option and ability to do so.

AUDIO:

The Blu-Ray release features a lossless 5.1 channel DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack which sounds fantastic and adds a whole additional level of fun to the overall experience of ‘The Lego Movie’. The numerous action packed sequences really immerse you in the wildness of the moment, thanks in large part to this marvelous soundtrack. Everything sounds discrete and solid overall. All five of the channels are given a pretty sufficient workout here and the fellow audiophiles (along with everyone else) should have a lot of fun with this lossless multichannel soundtrack.

SPECIAL FEATURES:

The Blu-Ray release of ‘The Lego Movie’ also includes heaps of fun, informative and hilarious bonus content (the majority of which can be found on the 2D Blu-Ray disc) that is definitely worth checking out. Included is a commentary track with the cast and filmmakers, a number of behind the scenes featurettes including: ‘Bringing Lego To Life’ ‘See It, Build It’ ‘Stories From The Story Team’ & ‘Dream Job: Meet The Lego Builders.’ Also included are outtakes, deleted scenes, fan-made Lego short film submissions, ‘Everything is Awesome’ Sing-A-Long, in addition to a couple of pretty hilarious short silly video’s and more.
