Jim and his put upon friends try to learn what it means to be a good person.
‘Legit’ is co-created by and stars Aussie comedian Jim Jefferies in the lead role as a man who decides he wants to accomplish some good in his life. As a result of this decision he decides to get involved with his friend and his handicapped brother in order to introduce the sheltered man to all of the sin and debauchery he’s been so desperately craving yet was previously unable to participate in due to his condition of MD and his lack of the ability to move. The series also stars DJ Qualls (Road Trip).
I had not previously had the pleasure of ‘Legit’ prior to viewing this DVD release, and while I will admit I was disappointed by the fact that DVD copies were sent out as opposed to Blu-Ray’s, it still provided me the opportunity to be introduced to this series, and I’m quite glad for that as it’s pretty hilarious. It’s certainly one of those ‘it’s so completely wrong it’s hilarious’ type of sitcoms, similar in ways to the type of offensive humor ever present in FX’s other hilarious series ‘It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia’, but for those who aren’t easily offended and can appreciate that type of comedy, this is definitely a show worth checking out. The second season recently started it’s run on FX’s sister station FXX, so make sure to get caught up and tune in for the remainder of its sophomore season.
The video on the DVD release of ‘Legit: The Complete First Season’ is presented in a 16×9 friendly 1.78:1 aspect ratio representing the widescreen aspect ratio in which it was originally broadcast. As far as DVD releases go, the video presentation on this is actually pretty phenomenal. Everything looked smooth where it should be and detailed elsewhere. Everything looked impressively sharp and pretty great as a whole. While I’m certain it will of course not compare to the Blu-Ray, DVD enthusiasts should be quite pleased with the video presentation on this release.
AUDIO: The audio on this DVD release is a Dolby Digital 5.1 channel lossy multichannel soundtrack on all thirteen episodes. Being the type of show this is, the surround channels aren’t really granted much opportunity to strut their stuff, but the soundtrack and minimal effects that do pass by at times give it that added bit of immersion that helps you to really get into the series and likely keep laughing throughout.
The DVD release of ‘Legit: The Complete First Season’ includes a surprisingly large quantity of hilarious and informative extras. Included are a Director’s Cut of the Pilot which is nearly twice as long as the one aired on TV (see above for more info regarding the Director’s Cut Pilot) Audio Commentaries on every one of the thirteen first season episodes, approximately ten minutes of Deleted Scenes, a fifteen minute gag reel, ‘Jim Jefferies’ Journey’ and ‘Rodney Autotune.’ There is certainly more than enough goodies included on this DVD release to keep fans of the series well entertained for long after they finish watching and re-watching the first season’s thirteen episodes.
