Plot Summary:

A gang of bank robbers fight their way out of a zombie-infested London.

‘Cockneys vs. Zombies’ is one of those rare treats of a film that you go in not expecting a whole lot and end up being pleasantly surprised when you find yourself immersed in one of the funniest zombie films in some time. In additioncvz01 to being smart, clever and hilarious, it doesn’t skimp on the gore either. There are some truly memorable gory moments present. While throwing the gore at you, this movie actually keeps you laughing throughout all the bloodshed.

The well crafted and down to earth characters combined with the surprisingly fantastic chemistry and interaction between them is what makes this work so well. Everyone plays off of each other remarkably well, and you actually feel like you are watching this group of people suffer and fight their way through this mess that has infested their town.

cvz02It all starts when a group of friends and family decide to rob a bank in order to gain the funds they need to keep their grandfather’s retirement home from closing and as a result him being forced to move away from the town he’s spend his life in. The robbery goes ridiculously easy, but this is just where the trouble begins. When they emerge to find the police gone and corpses littering the street, they know there is something horribly wrong in their home town.

‘Cockneys vs. Zombies’ is a hilarious and fast paced good time that brings some new light to the zombie genre and pulls it off flawlessly. I would highly recommend horror (and horror/comedy) fans give this one a shot because I think most of you will be as pleasantly surprised with this clever little film as I was.

VIDEO:

The Blu-Ray release of ‘Cockneys vs. Zombies’ features a full 1080p High Definition presentation utilizing the film’s original 2.35:1 Cinemascope Aspect Ratio. As is almost always the case with Scream Factory’s Blu-Ray releases, the picture looks fantastic. Everything is sharp, smooth and detailed. Everyone should be quite pleased with the video presentation on this one.

AUDIO:

The Blu-Ray release features a lossless 5.1 channel DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack. This film certainly provides a number of great opportunities to test the lossless soundtrack, and this release doesn’t disappoint. Bullets and music hit hard and effectively and everything about this DTS-HD track seems to be properly done and all of the channels properly placed. All of the fellow audiophiles out there should be satisfied.

SPECIAL FEATURES:

Once again, Scream Factory provides us with a generous helping of extra features on this Blu-Ray release. We are provided with two audio commentary tracks, one with the director, and another with one of the writers. Also included is an original look behind the scenes, the films trailer, and 10 deleted scenes, some of which are actually so hilarious and fun that I find myself feeling a little disappointed that they weren’t included in the film. Easily more than enough goodies to keep everyone occupied for a good while after viewing the film.
