For fans of the action packed and out of this world hits ‘Men In Black’ ‘Spider-Man’ & ‘Spider-Man 2’ prepare to watch them like you’ve never seen them before and to be blown away because these 4K Mastered Blu-Ray releases of these classic films look truly breathtaking.

While you may not want to go out and purchase all of your favorite titles in this format if you already own the original Blu’s, for titles you don’t already own, you will definitely want to consider going with the 4K Mastered versions over the initial Blu-Ray releases because the difference in the video presentation here is truly remarkable. You won’t find a better quality release of any of these titles currently available to own, that much I can pretty much guarantee.

Please note that our normal formula for a disc rating is usually compiled by considering three factors: video quality, audio quality and special features, but that formula will not apply for these 4K mastered titles and the only factors that will be considered are video and audio quality. Due to the nature of these 4K Mastered titles, no special features are included in order to the focus on providing the highest possible bitrate for these releases. This review will also solely focus on the 4K Mastered releases of these films and not on the films themselves. Below we have included notes on the video and audio specifications as well as the quality for each of the three releases.

All three of these films have never looked like this before, and the quality of the video presentation specifically is an impressive upgrade from the initial Blu-Ray releases. For the quality junkies out there I’m almost certain you will be thoroughly impressed by these truly gorgeous 4K Mastered releases.

MEN IN BLACK:men.in.black.4K.blu-ray.cover

The video on the 4K Mastered Blu-Ray release of ‘Men In Black’ is a full 1080p High Definition presentation utilizing the film’s original 1.85:1 Aspect Ratio and I don’t think it could possibly look any better than this. I was truly blown away by the amazing detail and richness in the video quality on this release. I have never seen ‘Men In Black’ look like this, and I was definitely blown away. The release features a 5.1 channel uncompressed Dolby TrueHD soundtrack which appears to be identical to the soundtrack featured on the initial Blu-Ray release of the film, though I can’t say for certain. What I can say is that the soundtrack sounds wonderful regardless and should certainly keep all those audiophiles such as me quite satisfied.

Disc Rating: 10/10

SPIDER-MAN:spiderman.4K.blu-ray.cover

The video on the 4K Mastered Blu-Ray release of ‘Spider-Man’ is a full 1080p High Definition presentation utilizing the film’s original 1.85:1 Aspect Ratio and once again looks absolutely phenomenal. This is one film that I have viewed uncountable times since its initial release in 2002 and this is without question the best I’ve ever seen this movie look. I have already replaced my original Blu-Ray release with this version on my shelf and will certainly be watching this release every time I watch ‘Spider-Man’ from this point on. The release features a 5.1 channel uncompressed Dolby TrueHD soundtrack which once again appears to be identical to the soundtrack featured on the initial Blu-Ray release of the film, though that is not any issue whatsoever as that soundtrack sounded wonderful.

SPIDER-MAN 2:spiderman.2.4K.blu-ray.cover

The video on the 4K Mastered Blu-Ray release of ‘Spider-Man 2’ is a full 1080p High Definition presentation utilizing the film’s original 2.40:1 Cinemascope Aspect Ratio and as you have probably already guessed based on my comments regarding the last two titles it looks truly fantastic. Please note that only the theatrical version of ‘Spider-Man 2’ is included on the 4K Mastered release and not the extended 2.1 version, though I’m assuming most fans of the franchise will be just fine with that as I personally didn’t really feel the extended cut really brought anything notable to the table and I know many other fans who agree. The audio on this one was a very pleasant surprise. While the initial Blu-Ray release included a Dolby TrueHD soundtrack (which was perfectly adequate) this 4K Mastered release is treated with a lossless 5.1 channel DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack which sounds magnificent.

Disc Rating: 10/10
