laff-a-lympics, blu-ray, scooby's all star laff-a-lympics

‘Scooby’s All Star Laff-A-Lympics’ originally debuted in September of 1977 and ran for two seasons before concluding its initial run in October of 1978. It was originally formatted as a multi-hour block with fan favorite series and two unique locations featured for the Laff-A-Lympics fun, and naturally this Blu-ray release doesn’t feature the various series included in between but features both of the beloved Laff-A-Lympics segments for all 24 episodes. The globe-spanning competition features numerous noteworthy animated stars including Scooby-Doo, Shaggy, Scooby-Dum, Yogi Bear and Boo-Boo Bear, Doggie Daddy and Augie Doggie, Captain Caveman, Babu, Huckleberry Hound, Yogi Bear, Wally Gator, Blue Falcon and Dynomutt, Quick Draw McGraw, Grape Ape, plus Mumbly and Dread Baron, Dinky, Dirty and Dastardly Dalton, The Creepleys, The Great Fondoo and Magic Rabbit, plus quite a few more in addition to Snagglepuss and Mildew Wolf who serve as the commentators throughout.

In addition to the vast collection of notable cartoon superstars featured throughout, ‘Scooby’s All Star Laff-A-Lympics’ was also noteworthy for the impressive number of locations it showcased. It featured everything from China, The Swiss Alps, England, Athens, Spain and Canada to Florida, Hawaii, Washington D.C. and even Transylvania and the Moon. Each location visited featured a fun collection of events for the teams to face off at that includes more normal competitions like Ice Skating, Baseball, water-skiing, an obstacle course and tug-of-war, along with more silly selections such as a pogo-stick race, Statue of Liberty climb, flying carpet race, and even a lunar foot race and a mermaid rescue to keep things interesting.

‘Laff-A-Lympics’ is a wildly entertaining animated series that’s just over the top and goofy enough to be an absolute blast that will have you laughing, cheering and even booing those twisted Rottens who refuse to play by the rules and are always seeking a shady upper hand in the events. If you’re a fan of Hanna-Barbera that’s never had the pleasure of this immensely entertaining animated series then I can’t encourage you strongly enough to give it a shot; it’s jam-packed with huge cartoon stars and plenty of smaller ones, along with more than enough over the top inane fun to keep you from ever getting the slightest bit bored along the way. Those that are already fans will surely also be thrilled to revisit all of the fun in glorious HD because this one never seems to get old.
