The Blu-ray release of ‘The Woody Woodpecker and Friends Golden Age Collection’ features a full 1080p High Definition presentation on all 25 cartoons presented in their original 1.33:1 Aspect Ratio. The video presentations look spectacular for the most part and offer clean, sharp, colorful and nicely detailed presentations on every animated short. While some may be slightly sharper or less grain-heavy than others, none suffer from any notable issues or problems to be located along the way. Detail is great on every animated bit and everything from characters to backgrounds look quite good, with some retaining a more grain heavy or slightly noisier presentation than others, yet each still looks pretty spectacular all things considered. Overall, these are solid high definition presentations that in many cases look better than expected and should have fans thrilled.

AUDIO:

The Blu-ray release includes a 2.0 dual mono DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack on all 25 included cartoons. These dual mono DTS-HD MA soundtracks do their job extremely well and they all provide clean, crisp and well balanced soundtracks with no issues or troubles noticeable throughout. They capably share the channel and balance the music, dialogue and various effects without ever allowing any audio element to contradict or negatively impact any others, always ensuring that every bit of dialogue along with everything else remains clean and fully audible. Overall, these are terrific 2.0 DTS-HD MA dual-mono soundtracks that deliver admirably at every turn and shouldn’t disappoint.

The Blu-ray release of ‘The Woody Woodpecker and Friends Golden Age Collection’ features a collection of archival extras including an additional cartoon and various behind the scenes bits with many featuring Walter Lantz.
