Synopsis:

Get set for an extended visit to Malibu’s most happening beach house with The Complete Series of one of the longest running live-action sitcoms in TV history, Two and a Half Men. Join brothers Charlie and Alan Harper; their estranged (and strange) kids, Jenny and Jake; gazillionaire Walden Schmidt; and housekeeper Berta for 12 years of hilarious high jinks with bad boys, funny men, gorgeous girls, celebrity neighbors, sexy stalkers, eccentric parents and more.

[Blu-Ray Review] Two And A Half Men: The Complete Series; Now Available From Warner Bros 1

Fans of the long-running sitcom ‘Two and a Half Men’ are invited to return to the iconic beach house for twelve seasons of hilarious fun and craziness with Charlie Harper, his brother Alan and Alan’s son Jake (and newcomer Walden Schmidt beginning in season 9) as Alan moves in with Charlie in his lavish Malibu beach house following his divorce and spends the subsequent years freeloading as much as possible. There’s never a dull moment or a lack of unique characters, with stalker neighbor Rose, bitter housekeeper Berta, along with Alan’s ex-wife Judith, Alan and Charlie’s mother Evelyn and many more all contributing to the zaniness and hilarity throughout the show’s impressive and lengthy run.

‘Two and a Half Men’ was created for television by Chuck Lorre & Lee Aronsohn. The series featured a notable cast of regulars as well as recurring stars throughout its lengthy run including Jon Cryer, Charlie Sheen, Angus T. Jones, Ashton Kutcher, Conchata Ferrell, Holland Taylor, Melanie Lynskey, Marin Hinkle, Courtney Thorne-Smith, Jennifer Taylor, Ryan Stiles, Amber Tamblyn and many more, with nearly all finding a place in the series and contributing to the goofy fun and laughs along the way.

‘Two and a Half Men’ first debuted on CBS in September of 2003 and was met with impressive numbers which led to its notable success; eventually concluding its 12-season and 262 episode run in February of 2015. The series is a great example of a fun, simplistic and easy-going sitcom that keeps the laughs and goofy vibes going throughout its entire run, if anything only becoming somewhat sillier as it progressed. I’ve always had a soft spot for this series and it’s one that I frequently find myself revisiting or still turning on random reruns of to this day and it never fails to elicit laughs.

In a world where so many sitcoms seem to try and work in real life elements and less humorous moments and subjects, ‘Two and a Half Men’ is quite the opposite in that it never takes itself very seriously and even the darkest of subjects are often approached with a silly and tongue-in-cheek style which can be a real treat when you want to just relax and laugh with something. Not only did the series feature a spectacular cast of regulars who each contributed in a big way to the fun and humor, it’s also jam-packed with memorable guest stars and recurring roles that often stand out as much as the key performances. It may be intentionally stupid at times and always vulgar and over the top, but it’s hard not to love a show that can deliver so many laughs and so consistently with nary a dull moment throughout.

two and a half men, complete series, blu ray review

At long last, fans of the iconic, long-running sitcom ‘Two and a Half Men’ can now finally own all 262 episodes from all twelve seasons on Blu-ray for the first time ever in the 25-disc ‘Two and a Half Men: The Complete Series’ Blu-ray box set from Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment. The set features full high definition presentations of every single episode which look quite terrific altogether and are each paired with lossless DTS-HD MA soundtracks (presented in 2.0 stereo for the first six seasons and in 5.1 for the final six seasons) which finally bring the series home physically looking and sounding better than it ever has prior.

On top of the notable new HD video and audio presentations offered within, the Complete Series Blu-ray set also features a nice collection of previously released extras from the DVD season sets in order to include just about everything the DVD collection provided, merely with every episode and season in superior video and audio quality. Following the recent trend of these sets, especially by WB the set arrives in 2 DVD-sized Epik-Pak cases that are both packed within a side-slip box. While I know many Blu-ray fans aren’t overly thrilled with these cases due to the awkward size and the challenges of removing or replacing discs from the overlapping slots, any fans of this series that like me have been hoping to see this one finally arrive home physically in HD, the set is still an absolute treat and is highly recommended.

VIDEO:

The Blu-ray release of ‘Two and a Half Men: The Complete Series’ features a full 1080p High Definition presentation with the show’s original 1.78:1 Aspect Ratio on every episode of all twelve seasons. The video presentations look pretty spectacular as a whole and while the quality does shift somewhat between certain seasons, they all look pretty great and deliver clean, sharp and well-detailed presentations. Detail is solid on character specifics, sets and surroundings, along with nearly everything else and the HD presentations show clear improvements in clarity, color and detail, without any notable issues arising along the way. Overall, these are generally great high definition video presentations that should have fellow fans of the series extremely pleased.

AUDIO:

The Blu-ray release features a 2.0 DTS-HD Master Audio stereo soundtrack for every episode of seasons 1-6, and a 5.1 channel DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack for every episode of seasons 7-12. These lossless soundtracks do their job well and offer clean, crisp and capable audio presentations that do a nice job of handling the various audio elements within and ensuring that all activity, effects and dialogue remains consistently clean and fully audible. The multichannel presentations for the final six seasons also offer a bit of immersion with music, laugh-track and other tidbits expanding into the various speakers, yet much of the show’s activity is relegated to the front as should be expected for a sitcom such as this; yet it always sounds sharp and clean at the very least. Overall, these are solid DTS-HD MA soundtracks that hold up nicely and shouldn’t disappoint by any means.
