[Blu-Ray Review] Looney Tunes: Platinum Collection Volume 2 (2025 Reissue); Now Available From Warner Bros 2

So, the re-release of the previous volume has you itching for more classic Looney Tunes cartoons does it? Well then you’re in luck, because ‘Looney Tunes: Platinum Collection Volume 2’ is now back in print as well and ready to bring you another 50 marvelous cartoons featuring all of your favorite Looney stars such as Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Sylvester and Tweety, Elmer Fudd and a great deal more as they repeatedly find themselves thrust into one wacky situation after another, and always with hilarious results.

[Blu-Ray Review] Looney Tunes: Platinum Collection Volume 2 (2025 Reissue); Now Available From Warner Bros 3

‘Looney Tunes: Platinum Collection Volume 2’ features another batch of memorable animated shorts including a good number of fan favorites with everything from extremely early appearances of Bugs, Daffy and Porky to the hilarious collection of Chuck Jones cartoons lovingly dubbed the ‘Wabbit Season Twilogy’ which joins the humorous chaos of Bugs, Daffy and Elmer all in the same cartoon, and that’s only the start of the fun packed into this immensely enjoyable 3-disc collection. It’s another jam-packed set full of visual splendor for dedicated Looney Tunes fans that has an impressive variety of characters and shorts that allows each of the big stars and even many of the smaller ones a chance to shine in high definition, while also showcasing the fascinating evolution of many key characters as their appearances, voices and traits changed and evolved over the years into what we are familiar with today. I do want to stress that the release is once again a reissue of the set and will therefore be identical content-wise to the previously released Blu-ray from years prior.

The 3-disc ‘Looney Tunes: Platinum Collection Volume 2’ Blu-ray release is back in print and available again along with the first volume (you can also read my review of the Volume 1 Blu-ray HERE) thanks to Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment with fifty more tremendous cartoons and hours of noteworthy extras on hand to keep fans entertained and amused. The second volume features the next fifty featured cartoons once again with pretty great high definition video presentations on each, yet once more unfortunately (but not unexpected) offering lossy 1.0 Dolby Digital soundtracks which may not offer the tremendous clarity and detail of a lossless presentation but just like with Volume 1 they still hold up rather capably and don’t utterly ruin the experience by any means.

The second volume in the Platinum Collection also features another outstanding helping of extras, this time offering tons of rare cartoons within featuring everything from old Droopy, Screwball Squirrel and The Captain and the Kids animated shorts to famous wartime cartoons like ‘Private Snafu’ and ‘Mr. Hook’ which are a treat to see featured on any release at all. Just as with the previous Volume, the ‘Looney Tunes: Platinum Collection Volume 2’ Blu-ray is highly recommended for any diehard Looney Tunes fans that missed it the last time around. This is another magnificent collection of cartoons that you will almost certainly want to ensure get added to your collection.

VIDEO:

The Blu-ray release of ‘Looney Tunes: Platinum Collection Volume 2’ features a full 1080p High Definition presentation on all 50 animated shorts with Aspect Ratios of approximately 1.33:1-1.37:1. The video presentations once again look great for the most part and they all provide sharp, filmic and richly colored presentations (aside from the black and white toons again of course) that do retain some scratches and other minor imperfections representative of their source material which will probably excite many fans. Detail is solid pretty much across the board on characters, backgrounds and other elements within down to nearly every animated line. Overall, these are nice and fully capable high definition video presentations that hold up well throughout and should have little trouble satisfying fans.

AUDIO:

The Blu-ray release includes a lossy 192 kbps 1.0 channel Dolby Digital mono soundtrack on all of the included cartoons. These lossy mono soundtracks are very decent in their own right, especially for the format and while there will certainly be fans still annoyed by the absence of a lossless option (and understandably so) these audio presentations do offer clean, sharp and generally rewarding presentations for the most part throughout that balance the various audio elements within and never result in any dialogue or other elements that might be occurring simultaneously negatively impacting or clashing with one another. Overall, these are generally solid and capable 1.0 Dolby Digital soundtracks that might not be outstanding but are still surprisingly decent.

SPECIAL FEATURES:
