Synopsis:

After defeating Godspeed with the help of his speedster children from the future, Bart and Nora, Barry Allen aka The Flash is back to face new challenges. With the help of Team Flash at STAR Labs including Caitlin Snow, Frost, Allegra Garcia and Chester P. Runk along with his family, The Flash will face villains old and new in Central City. The season begins with an epic five-episode event, “Armageddon” featuring crossover characters from across the Arrowverse.

Season 8 of ‘The Flash’ picks up following the thrilling conclusion of season 7 which saw Barry defeat the deadly Godspeed with the help of his children Nora and Bart from the future. But just when Barry and the rest of Team Flash including Iris, Caitlin, Frost, Allegra, Chester and the others think that they might have time to relax for a moment they are confronted with a new plethora of challenges and threats that will test the team in more ways than they could anticipate. Featuring some familiar villains and some new ones, The Flash and his trusty group of friends are back to take them all on.

The eighth season of ‘The Flash’ brings fans another fun, exciting and somewhat emotional batch of episodes that you definitely won’t want to miss out on if you haven’t yet had the pleasure. The latest season of the DC Comics series kicks off with the five-part ‘Armageddon’ event which serves in many ways as the crossover event this year and features guest appearances by some other Arrowverse favorites including Ray Palmer aka The Atom, Alex Danvers, Jefferson Pierce aka Black Lightning, plus Ryan Wilder aka Batwoman and more, pitting Barry and his friends against a deadly new foe who has his sights set on The Flash due to a cataclysmic event occurring in the future that he holds him responsible for.

The massive five part ‘Armageddon’ event is only the beginning of Team Flash’s troubles this season though as it then delves into some other new and continuing storylines that will test the team and their ability to trust each other like never before as they are forced to take on new threats, uncertainties and even some difficult losses. It’s another fun, emotional and thrilling batch of episodes with plenty of action-packed excitement and heart to keep fans of the series easily glued to the screen throughout. Fans of the show that haven’t yet had a chance to catch up on Season 8 will almost surely want to try and find the time to do so ahead of the show’s ninth and final season which is expected to debut next year.

Overall, Season 8 of ‘The Flash’ delivers another collection of exciting, fast paced and at times quite emotional episodes that fans won’t want to miss including the 5 part ‘Armageddon’ event which kicks off the season’s run this time around. Warner Bros. Home Entertainment’s 4-disc Blu-ray release for ‘The Flash: The Complete Eighth Season’ brings home all twenty episodes from the show’s penultimate season with great high definition video and audio presentations on each, along with some nice extras including Deleted Scenes from over half of the episodes, a new Gag Reel and more. Fans of the series that have been collecting it on Blu-ray each season should be thoroughly pleased with this new release which offers an even better bitrate for the episodes than many previous season sets. If you’re a fan and already considering a purchase, then this Season 8 Blu-ray release is definitely recommended.

VIDEO:

The Blu-ray release of ‘The Flash: The Complete Eighth Season’ features a full 1080p High Definition presentation with the show’s original 1.78:1 Aspect Ratio on all of the eighth season’s episodes. The video presentations look pretty fantastic as a whole and provide clean, sharp and nicely detailed presentations for every episode in the season with ample bitrates allotted for each. They hold up well even during the many fast moving and darkly lit sequences and keep everything from character details and surroundings to action sequences looking sharp and vibrant without any unexpected problems arising along the way. Overall, these are great high definition video presentations that shouldn’t have any trouble pleasing the show’s fans.

AUDIO:

The Blu-ray release features a 5.1 channel DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack on all 20 Season Eight episodes. These multichannel soundtracks deliver clean, crisp and consistently hard hitting audio presentations for each episode in the season. They repeatedly take advantage of all five available channels in order to send characters, action effects and plenty more regularly zipping throughout the various speakers whenever appropriate and never allowing any dialogue or other audio elements that may be occurring simultaneously to clash or become inaudible in the process. Overall, these are wonderful 5.1 DTS-HD MA soundtracks that never disappoint and also contribute plenty of extra fun and excitement to the viewing experience.

SPECIAL FEATURES:

The Blu-ray release of ‘The Flash: The Complete Eighth Season’ includes a few nice extras that fans of the series should appreciate. Included on the release are ‘Deleted Scene(s)’ from 11 episodes in the season (running approximately 22 minutes in length altogether), along with a new ‘Gag Reel’ for season eight (running approximately 9 minutes) and the Featurette ‘The Flash: Standing the Test of Time’ (approximately 9 minutes). Also included is the generic DC TV Featurette ‘The DC Heroes: Path to Glory’ (running approximately 17 minutes) which is also available on some other recent DC Comics TV releases such as ‘Superman & Lois: Season 2’.
