Synopsis:

In season four, Supergirl faces a bigger threat than she’s ever faced before – a new wave of anti-alien sentiment, spreading across National City that’s fomented by Agent Liberty.  As Kara mentors a new reporter at CatCo, Nia Nal, and tries to use the power of the press to shine a light on the issues threatening to tear the city apart, Supergirl takes to the skies to battle the many villains who rise up in this era of divisiveness.  But how does Supergirl battle a movement when she, herself an alien, represents one of the main things people are fearful of?

The fourth season of ‘Supergirl’ finds our heroine and her friends tackling terrifying threats and dangers like they never expected. With hatred of alien citizens by many of their human neighbors reaching unprecedented new levels, new threats from the human end of the spectrum start appearing in increasing numbers, including the deadly new masked avenger known only as Agent Liberty who soon finds nothing short of a full blown cult supporting his violent, anti-alien ways of thinking, slowing pitting humans against aliens across the globe. As if that alone wasn’t enough for our heroes to handle, a smart and determined new boss at the DEO and her by the book attitude and hunt for the truth about Supergirl’s identity make things dangerous for everyone Kara has trusted with her secret; while the unexpected arrival of Lena’s infamous brother Lex Luthor is only the icing on the cake.

Season four of ‘Supergirl’ soars in with plenty of noteworthy newcomers hitting the scene this season, both in the form of new heroes and allies for our team of protectors and some worthy villains for them to combat. Including the mysterious Agent Liberty, the masked leader of a radical new human rights and anti-alien group that threatens everything already built toward peace, along with the unexpected arrival of Lena’s diabolical brother Lex Luthor, played with near perfection by Jon Cryer (best known to many for his unforgettable portrayal of Alan on the sitcom ‘Two and a Half Men’) who does a magnificent job of capturing the infamous villain’s style, charm, and cunning demeanor. Add plenty of personal trials and struggles for our characters to tackle along the way and no shortage of memorable moments and it all forms together into a worthy new season that fixes many of the hiccups season three found itself a victim of and fans who haven’t yet had the pleasure will definitely want to try and catch up sooner than later. As far as the physical Blu-ray release itself is concerned, Warner’s 4-disc Blu-ray set of ‘Supergirl: The Complete Fourth Season’ flies in sporting great overall high definition video and audio presentations on each and every episode, in addition to numerous fun extras for the fans including ‘Deleted Scene(s)’ from over half of the season’s episodes, plus more (please see the special features section in the technical specification coverage of the review below for more detailed information) which will likely make it well worth picking up for the dedicated fans that have already been collecting the previous season releases.
