Directed once again by frequent Broken Lizard director Jay Chandrasekhar (Super Troopers, Club Dread) from a screenplay that as per usual was written by the entire Broken Lizard team (comprised of Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske), Chandrasekhar does a great job at the helm of ‘Super Troopers 2’ seeming to have no trouble jumping right back into the familiar fun of the original. The sequel features a cast comprised of many returning individuals and newcomers to the series alike and includes the whole Broken Lizard team of Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske, in addition to Brian Cox (X2), Rob Lowe (TV’s Code Black), Emmanuelle Chriqui (Entourage), Will Sasso (Killing Hasselhoff), Tyler Labine (Tucker and Dale vs Evil), Hayes MacArthur (TV’s Angie Tribeca), Lynda Carter (TV’s Supergirl) and more, nearly all delivering humorous and fitting performances in each of their respective roles, particularly Sasso, Labine and MacArthur whose hilarious portrayals of the main three Mounties are easily one of the film’s greatest elements.

The long discussed and highly anticipated sequel from the Broken Lizard comedy team, ‘Super Troopers 2’ has finally arrived which is certainly an event to celebrate in itself. For the most part the follow-up delivers a rather worthy sequel that definitely isn’t as outstanding as its predecessor but should nonetheless leave fellow fans quite satisfied. Dishing out plenty of noteworthy laughs and revisiting jokes from the original often to humorous results, while still making an effort to switch things up to some degree and even providing our favorite lovable goofball squad a brand new area to terrify (so to speak) and it all molds together into a pretty hilarious and thoroughly entertaining second chapter. The follow-up of course features the entirety of the Broken Lizard team reprising their roles from the first film in addition to once again penning the screenplay, with Jay Chandrasekhar once more competently guiding along the goofy fun in the director’s chair. Any other longtime fans of the original film will surely want to make a point of checking out this amusing sequel whenever they have the chance, and anyone who tends to appreciate similar over the top, raunchy comedy movies (or other efforts from the Broken Lizard team in particular who never seem to disappoint) are all incredibly likely to have a pretty great time with this enjoyable and long awaited sequel to the cult classic comedy.

Overall, ‘Super Troopers 2’ comes together into a thoroughly enjoyable sequel. It may not quite manage to attain the level of greatness that the first movie (and so many of the Broken Lizard team’s other outings) have reached, but still manages to form into a familiar yet occasionally unique and frequently hilarious good time. It probably won’t exceed many expectations but shouldn’t disappoint either and is likely to leave everyone who’s been patiently awaiting this sequel relatively satisfied. ‘Super Troopers 2’ is definitely recommended, especially for fellow fans of the Broken Lizard team in general and of the first ‘Super Troopers’ who probably won’t want to even consider missing out on this fairly solid sequel. It certainly shouldn’t have any issue proving itself more than worth your time and the cost of a rental at the absolute least.
