‘That Awkward Moment’ tells the story of three friends who decide to make a pact with each other to stay single following heartbreak on numerous ends. Naturally once they make the pact (or bet if you’d prefer) each of the three almost immediately finds someone they care about and must make a choice as to whether or not to take a chance on love or stick to the arrangement and remain single and uncommitted as promised. As can be expected emotions, feelings and friendship all collide and they will each be tested in their own way.

Tom Gormican does a pretty impressive job helming the film, especially considering it is his debut both as a director and writer (he also penned the script and has a cameo as a waiter). The cast gives pretty solid performances for the most part in each of their respective roles, though I felt the standout performance was probably that of Miles Teller who I don’t think is too well known at this point, although some may be familiar with him from his roles in ‘Project X’ & ’21 & Over.’ Teller delivered some of the funnier moments in the film and I think he is definitely an individual to keep an eye on in the future. Zac Efron and Michael B. Jordan also give respectable performances in the other two lead roles and there are a number of other familiar faces you might recognize throughout as well, such as Addison Timlin, Josh Pais, Jessica Lucas and a number more.

‘That Awkward Moment’ is surprisingly hilarious, heartwarming and true to life and should therefore give a large portion of the audience at least some element or another that they can personally relate to. While it may not be a perfect film, it holds up impressively well and provides a large number of laughs, managing to keep things raunchy and hilarious without sacrificing emotion and heart. I definitely enjoyed this one far more than I initially expected to and if you’re looking for a fun and entertaining movie to enjoy one night, I would recommend giving this one a shot. It would be a great one to watch with a partner or spouse and should keep the women happy while also satisfying the men as it really in many ways is a romantic comedy from a guy’s point of view.

VIDEO:

The Blu-Ray release of ‘That Awkward Moment’ features a full 1080p High Definition presentation utilizing the film’s original 2.40:1 Cinemascope Aspect Ratio. The video presentation on this one looks impressive. The colors are all sharp, all minuscule elements impressively detailed and no faults could be found within from my perspective. I think everyone will be very satisfied with this high definition video presentation.

AUDIO:

The Blu-Ray release features a lossless 5.1 channel DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack. The audio track sounds great for what it is. This one doesn’t have too much heavy hitting activity, though that is to be expected considering the type of film it is. Scenes in bars and more populated environments take advantage of the surround channels nicely and throw in some background activity while never detracting from the audibility of the dialogue which is usually mostly focused to the center channel.

SPECIAL FEATURES:

Included on the release is ‘Threesome: More Awkward Moments Featurette’ ‘Meet The Characters Featurette’s’ ‘Moment of Truth: Behind The Scenes Featurette’ and an ‘Extended Gag Reel.’
