‘Transformers Armada’ tells the story of the continued battle between the Autobots and the Decepticons that has come to Earth following the discovery of creatures called Mini-Cons which have been missing for ages are discovered to be hidden across our planet. These Mini-Cons have the ability to connect with the Autobots and Decepticons to highly increase their power and now as the Decepticons try to track them down in order to overpower the Autobots and intend on using them (yet again) merely as pawns to benefit their own means, the Autobots treat them as friends and allies and try to locate them if for no reason other than to protect them from the Decepticon’s evil intentions. With the help of a few kids who by a chance of fate come into contact with a few of these Mini-Cons and as a result end up joining the Autobots in their fight they may just have a chance at succeeding, as well as finding unlikely friendships in the process.

Transformers fans everywhere will definitely want to add a copy of ‘Transformers Armada: The Complete Series’ to their collection, and while I had not personally had the opportunity to see this series in full before, I’ve heard many Transformers fans speak very highly of it and even reference it as one of the most notable entries in the Transformers cartoons and now I can certainly say I understand why. It also marks the beginning of ‘The Unicron Trilogy’ which continues in the series ‘Transformers Engergon’ and concludes with ‘Transformers Cybertron’. VIDEO:

The video on the DVD release of ‘Transformers Armada: The Complete Series’ is presented in a 4×3 1.33:1 aspect ratio representing the aspect ratio in which it was originally broadcast. The video presentation looks pretty impressive. Colors are sharp, detailed and fast movements which are so frequent in this cartoon series keep pretty smooth and decent looking for the most part. Those viewing on an HDTV will notice some pixilation and a few other imperfections as should be expected with a DVD release, but I think fans will be pretty pleased overall with the video presentation on this one.

AUDIO:
The audio on the DVD release is a Dolby Digital 2.0 stereo soundtrack on all fifty-two episodes. For a lossy stereo soundtrack everything sounds pretty great. All of the action is clear and surprisingly discrete, while never detracting from the audibility of the dialogue. Overall I think this is about as good as stereo soundtracks get and should leave most very satisfied.

SPECIAL FEATURES:

No special features are included on the release, but with 52 episodes (4 seasons) and the incredibly reasonable price, this is nothing to be concerned over and I think everyone will still be quite thrilled with this collection.
